Lifeburn Posted June 11, 2018 Report Posted June 11, 2018 I am making my own pauldron and need some advise on this last part. How do I go about sewing the trim without the corners bunching up? I thought about cutting darts in the corners but that wouldn't look very clean in my opinion, so I am hoping there is another way. Thanks 1 Quote
Lifeburn Posted June 11, 2018 Author Report Posted June 11, 2018 Nevermind. I just bit the bullet and went ahead and sewed it. Turns out, the sewing machine did most of the work keeping the wrinkles out. 1 Quote
themaninthesuitcase[Admin] Posted June 12, 2018 Report Posted June 12, 2018 You've done a great job on that! I'd love to see more on how you made it? Quote

I just followed the templates that I found here: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/16758-shoulder-pauldron-templates/?tab=comments#comment-202330 I used vinyl for the main red and black parts, black cotton for the underside, then I sandwiched a 1/4 inch (6mm) piece of foam between the top and bottom and sewed everything together. The neck straps are actual leather. 1 Quote
themaninthesuitcase[Admin] Posted June 12, 2018 Report Posted June 12, 2018 Awesome. I'm just starting to look at making some of my own softgoods for some costumes and this looks like a great project to start with. Quote
sharkbait[TK] Posted June 12, 2018 Report Posted June 12, 2018 Wow- very nice job! I was going to say the thicker materials like leather/leather/leather-like tend to hide wrinkles on milder curves, so I'd just pin in as best I could and then go for it. Which appears to be what you did, so there you go! Quote
