rzill[TK] Posted April 14, 2018 Report Posted April 14, 2018 (edited) I had to re-size my upper body, and while removing the shoulder straps, one of them suffered this small hairline fracture (at least I knew the glue job was a good one!) Is this worth mixing some ABS paste as a 'nip it in the bud' kind of thing? Edited June 11, 2021 by gmrhodes13 photos updated gmrhodes13 2021 Quote
justjoseph63[Staff] Posted April 14, 2018 Report Posted April 14, 2018 Not sure if it needs any ABS paste, but I would definitely glue a thin ABS shim behind that crack, Ron. It will get worse if you don't. 1 Quote
Neb Sgird[TK] Posted April 14, 2018 Report Posted April 14, 2018 Ya i would reinforce it from behind wirh a strip of ABS. Some go so far as to use an aluminum strip. No need to paste it unlessl it grows. Hopefully it won't!Sent from my LG-H872 using Tapatalk 1 Quote
Frank75139[501st] Posted April 14, 2018 Report Posted April 14, 2018 Ditto! Get a small scrap piece slightly bigger and glue it under. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1 Quote
rzill[TK] Posted April 14, 2018 Author Report Posted April 14, 2018 Thanks all! Much better than mixing the paste for such a small thing. I appreciate the help Quote
themaninthesuitcase[Admin] Posted April 14, 2018 Report Posted April 14, 2018 I wouldn't bother with paste personally. I would however make sure I fixed the crack to stop to getting worse. I like "poor mans fibre glass". Armour - Repair by Christopher Pearson, on Flickr 1 Quote
sharkbait[TK] Posted April 18, 2018 Report Posted April 18, 2018 I would do a combo- a little abs paste then cap it off with a strip to brace it, attack it form both ends. My shoulder straps are also cracking in the same way (occupational hazard, I'm afraid). Quote
