CableGuy[TK] Posted July 2, 2018 Author Report Posted July 2, 2018 Troop #6 July 1st: Reading Buses Open Day - supporting Autism Berkshire. Hi all, This was a really enjoyable troop. We shared the event with our friends from the UK Colonial Marines and were supporting Autism Berkshire. The event included behind the scenes tours of the bus depot, a selection of old and new buses, stalls, stands, face painting etc etc. There was a good mix of people and it was specifically rewarding seeing the reaction of the young attendees with special needs. One adorable young lad of around 4yrs old was very fond of Lord Vader and offered him his red toy whistle. That put a smile on my face. Temperatures were up to around 30C (86F) but our excellent spotters kept us in and out of the shade to get little breaks from the sun. As always, it was lovely to meet up with troopers I know and new faces that I didn’t. Photo credits go to Rowan Read. Not sure how much was raised yet but it seemed like a very successful event. Thanks for stopping by. :-) 5 Quote

CableGuy[TK] Posted July 11, 2018 Author Report Posted July 11, 2018 (edited) Troop #7 July 8th 2018 - NHS Family Fun Day The NHS (National Health Service) is 70 this year and they wanted to celebrate this event by saying thank you to their staff and organising a family fun day, including fairground rides, petting zoo, inflatables, stalls, picnics, classic cars, to celebrate all things NHS. We were invited along to bring order to the galaxy. It was around 33 degrees C / 91.4F so a scorcher of a day. Didn’t get many photos from social media, I’m afraid. My wife and children came for some pics which I borrowed from her. :-) Next troop in two weekends time. :-) Edited July 11, 2018 by CableGuy 3 Quote
CableGuy[TK] Posted August 5, 2018 Author Report Posted August 5, 2018 Troop #8Let’s Rock London - July 28th 2018Clapham Common, LondonNow, THIS was a fun troop!! From our side, we were there to help raise money for a child bereavement charity who were collecting throughout the event. We were very well looked after by the organisers and had almost free reign of the whole event area. Artists performing at this live, outdoor event included Go West, UB40, Boomtown Rats, The Jam, amongst many others. As well as walking around and interacting with the public, we were also invited on to the stage for a brief appearance. Our awesome Deadpool (part of the UKG’s Reel Icons group) entertained the crowd with his boombox!! That was one heck of an experience!! Credit to Si Dorn for most of these pictures and videos. With a very dusty Clapham Common, my kits ended up looking like a sandy!! CableGuy[TK] Posted August 24, 2018 Author Report Posted August 24, 2018 Troop #9Reading Dragon Boats - August 19th 2018Hi all. This was a really fun troop, with a really nice vibe from the participants and crowds. Each Dragon boat team was raising money for local charities and, from what we hear, the event raised over £12,000. We had 5 costumers and two spotters for the event. Here’s some pics of the day, thanks to Rowan Read. Overall, another wonderful troop. :-) 4 Quote

CableGuy[TK] Posted October 21, 2018 Author Report Posted October 21, 2018 Troop #11 ElstreeCon 2.0 - Borehamwood 29th September 2018 Whilst this was a quiet event in terms of punters, it was a privilege to troop at the home of Star Wars. We were lucky enough to meet a few celebs, including Alan Harris, aka Bossk and a TK in ESB, as well as being allowed onto the backlot for a photo in front of the George Lucas stage. Photos courtesy of Wayne Allen, Trist Fulcher and social media. Next up, London Comic Con. :-) 1 Quote

CableGuy[TK] Posted November 22, 2018 Author Report Posted November 22, 2018 Troop #12 October 27th - London Excel - MCM Comic Con This was a very, VERY busy one! Walking around the venue, London’s Excel Centre, was a bit of a mission. The UK Garrison put on a wonderful show, taking along our Death Star wall and a very wide range of characters. The Cantina band, with instruments and a very loud sound system), were stars of the show. Only managed to find a few pictures on social media. 1 Quote
