zeddy Posted November 11, 2018 Report Posted November 11, 2018 Does anyone have an update on this for the whole build? Specifically what is meant to be gloss and what is meant to be matte?Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk Quote
11b30b4[TK] Posted January 7, 2019 Report Posted January 7, 2019 Zeddy, page 4 of my build has a respectable paint guide. As for glossy vs flat. Everything white is glossy, all the details on the ab plate and sides are glossy. The grey on the TD and helmet is flat. the black brow is flat and the neck seal ring is flat. I shot my entire helmet then applied a gloss to everything but the brow and neck. Then i went back and sanded the grey stuff to make it flat. 2 Quote
Plainsrunner Posted May 9, 2019 Report Posted May 9, 2019 This might be an obvious question, but is there any special brand or color for the white glossy paint for the armor? This guide is fantastic for the detailing, but I'm wondering if there is a special color for the actual white armor. Thanks! Quote
gmrhodes13[Staff] Posted May 9, 2019 Report Posted May 9, 2019 From what I've seen so far most are using just a gloss white. Quote
11b30b4[TK] Posted June 19, 2019 Report Posted June 19, 2019 (edited) For the armor I used Automotive primer, paint, and clear coat. I shot it all with HVLP gun. the color I used was Ford Frozen White. See page four of my build here: here are my paint guides Edited August 13, 2020 by 11b30b4 1 Quote
TKModder421[TK] Posted August 9 Report Posted August 9 Curious if anyone has any updates on the blue for the tube stripe backing? Or is everyone still sticking with the French Blue? Quote

Most have been using a fabric, some use tape "On the RO helmet the tube stripes are completely cut out and for the screen used helmets, they were backed with blue painters’ tape." Reference 1 Quote

Reference Yeah, that's the info I had also heard several years ago. In my opinion the color seems a bit lighter than French blue or painter's tape though. I was just wondering if there had been any additional insight on a matching color. I have recently heard from a reliable source that at least on the Kenobi production helmets, the backing was a blue molded plastic, similar to a tupperware type material. This may be what we're seeing in these shots as well, I'm not sure, but the other details of the interior here match what I've seen from the source. Quote
