Artshot Posted March 22, 2018 Report Posted March 22, 2018 I am so stealing the forearm to bicep jig idea 1 Quote
TK 71627[TK] Posted March 23, 2018 Report Posted March 23, 2018 This past weekend I decided to boil my biceps to achieve a rounder base. It turned out really well. I built a jig after measuring the required bicep/forearm gaps. This made installing the two inch straps much easier. I just glued the straps with CA glue. The shoulder bells received their snaps and now the arms are finished. Next, I installed snaps for thigh garter system. Finally, I spent the remainder of the day trying things on and doing my final fitting. I used some helmet padding to line up my shins perfectly. Ukswrath’s helmet electronics installed. Rivets painted. Frown mesh installed. I THINK I am finished with everything! I will spend a little time cleaning and polishing and I should be ready to take submission photos. Finally!!! lucnak[TK] Posted March 23, 2018 Report Posted March 23, 2018 He is referring to using a hot water bath to reshape the biceps a bit. Some parts can fit awkwardly because the opening is oval-like. Quote
Seansull[TK] Posted March 23, 2018 Author Report Posted March 23, 2018 “BOIL ... for a ROUNDER BASE”...please explain Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk So, I used a large pot of boiling water to dip the base of biceps for shaping. The ABS warm up relatively slowly vs heat gun and allows for pretty easy reshaping. The bottom (base) of the AM 2.0 biceps is very oval like. I was going to live with it, but at the last minute decided to reshape a bit. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote

Commander Gree[501st] Posted March 25, 2018 Report Posted March 25, 2018 Great write up man, made me even more excited, but so much more nervous to start my build. I don't think im going to set a deadline like I said, it will cause me to rush and I don't wanna screw something up. I think I got it pretty much figured out (biggest thing im nervous about is the glue part, have heard so many different things, I went with Amazing goop). Once I get my armor ill probably do the bucket first...I think Quote

Seansull[TK] Posted March 30, 2018 Author Report Posted March 30, 2018 I built my Doopys blaster this past week. I decided to make a few mods, but not go crazy in this one. I definitely think another, more derailed, blaster build is in my future. Metal thumb screws, metal site pin, drilled out barrel tip. Modded parts prior to painting. My rag tag paint area. I’m using Rustoleum satin black. Here is the finished product. I’m going to keep the blaster looking new for now, to match my new armor. I’m sure there will be some weathering in my future. Cheers!Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 5 Quote
Seansull[TK] Posted May 25, 2018 Author Report Posted May 25, 2018 Hi Everyone! After 4 long troops, I noticed a few hairline cracks on my neck and in either side of the shoulder straps. I added a ABS doubler on the back side of the shoulder straps. In addition, is mixed up some structural epoxy and flocked cotton (FLOX). I made a filet around the inside neckline. Another easy way would to CA glue some ABS strips on the neckline. I gave it a little paint to blend in after everything dried. The next item I wanted to modify was my shins. I added some velcro inside the front of the shins and to the front of my boots. This should eliminate any rotation. Lastly, I cleaned and polished everything. Frank75139[501st] Posted May 25, 2018 Report Posted May 25, 2018 Great job on everything. And the reinforcement idea was a great addition. People should start doing this right from the start as a precaution. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 2 Quote

The small holes are for Ukswrath’s HA system. Next, I started on my Hovi tips. I put a small coat of Vaseline on the recessed areas. I mixed up a small batch of epoxy putty and applied it to the base of the Hovi tips. After these set up I’ll remove and clean everything up. This should give me a nice contoured base final installation. Did you let the milliput cure while on the helmet and remove after to clean up? Quote

BTCost74[501st] Posted January 10, 2019 Report Posted January 10, 2019 I recently received my AM 2.0 ANH Stunt BBB, this build thread is going to help me a lot. I am definitely going to be referencing this during my build! 3 Quote
A.J. Hamler[TK] Posted February 8, 2019 Report Posted February 8, 2019 Hi Sean... This thread hasn't been active in a while so I hope you see this. Could you give a few more details on how you fixed the shape of your Back Plate where the corners dip down over the Kidney? This seems to be a common issue with AM armor, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to correct it without changing the shape of the Back Plate at the edges. This is how my AM Back Plate sits atop the Kidney. Along the green line it's right on top of the Kidney upper return edge, where it's supposed to be. But those two pointed "wings" (orange arrows) or whatever you'd call them are curved down and over the Kidney. You noted that you heat shaped the Back to bring those two "wings" up. I've done a good bit of heat shaping in my build so bending these would be straightforward, but I would think that if you did that, then the sides of the Back Plate would bow out where I've drawn the curved red lines. How'd you keep that from happening? Thanks. Quote

How'd you keep that from happening? I don't think it would bow out if the entire area you marked in red were reshaped. That is, if you were to heat the sides and corners up and curve them in. That should help the back plate follow the kidney armor's curve, I think. On 2/8/2019 at 2:01 PM, A.J. Hamler said: Quote
