Harbinger[IPM] Posted February 13, 2018 Report Posted February 13, 2018 Super clean, great work. 1 Quote
Seansull[TK] Posted February 15, 2018 Author Report Posted February 15, 2018 TD final assembly complete.I decided to get the belt started next. Corners cut at 45 deg. Rivet cover plates cut and polished. Rivet holes drilledSnaps installed on back side of belt and snapped in place to check fit. I’m very happy with how it crossed the ab button plate. Finally, I glued the rivet cover plates in place. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 3 Quote

Seansull[TK] Posted February 15, 2018 Author Report Posted February 15, 2018 I decided to attach my ammo drop boxes with snaps. This will me to easily put items inside, should the need arise. This actually worked out better than I expected. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
gmrhodes13[Staff] Posted February 16, 2018 Report Posted February 16, 2018 Nice work. In case you have any issues with the snaps rubbing on the armor and leaving marks you could just cover them with some tape. 1 Quote
Seansull[TK] Posted February 16, 2018 Author Report Posted February 16, 2018 Great idea! I was curious how that would play out. The snaps are rather large, but they needed to be strong to pull the inner box out to access interior. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
Seansull[TK] Posted February 16, 2018 Author Report Posted February 16, 2018 Here are my ab buttons glued with e6000. I made these “removable” in the event this TK becomes a TD some day. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1 Quote
Seansull[TK] Posted February 17, 2018 Author Report Posted February 17, 2018 I trimmed the back plate tonight and heat shaped it to fit with kidney. After the back was fitted I installed the butt snaps. Then, right “cosmetic” snap installed. Finally I marked the left side holes for split rivets. I’m not sure if these will be functional or not. Cheers!Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
justjoseph63[Staff] Posted February 17, 2018 Report Posted February 17, 2018 Your build is looking fantastic, Sean! As for if the the split rivets will be "functional", do you mean to help hold the strapping on? If you are going with elastic on the sides I would suggest just installing them and then attaching (gluing) the strapping over them. The reason being is that elastic can wear (stretch) out over time, and if it needs to eventually be replaced you would have to remove/replace the rivets as well. Also, if you use nylon remember that the shanks of the rivets are not very long, and you may have some trouble getting it through the armor, nylon and washer before opening up the "legs" properly. Keep up the great work! P.S. REALLY nice job on that kidney/butt plate alignment! Quote

Keep up the great work! P.S. REALLY nice job on that kidney/butt plate alignment! Thanks Joseph!I think I will be using the split rivet with a male snap like I did on the cod. I will probably is 3” wide elastic with 6 snaps (split rivet locations) because, I really want to minimize any vertical movement in this joint. With the snaps, it will be a replaceable part too. I’ll post pics later today! Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
Seansull[TK] Posted February 19, 2018 Author Report Posted February 19, 2018 Here, I have installed the “split snaps” on the left side. Originally I was going to use a single elastic strip to connect the sides. Unfortunately the elastic only stretches one direction. So, I folded 3” wide elastic for form three sturdy straps. Everything lined up just right. Next, I moved to the right side. I was very happy with the plastic slide that I did on my WTF build. I duplicated the process with a few slight improvements. In preparation for strapping, all three back pieces are taped in place. 1.5” strapping pieces cut with edges and snap hole melted. Installing snaps. Ready to install the finished product. Male snap plates installed. I will wait to install the snap plates on chest until after I fit the shoulder straps. Here is the chest plate trimmed and polished. Shoulder straps trimmed and polished. Finally, I installed the helmet strap that I decided to use. I still need to purchase keeps before installing buckle. That’s all for today. Cheers!Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
Seansull[TK] Posted February 20, 2018 Author Report Posted February 20, 2018 I worked on some painting this evening. I used the scrap from some stickers as a template. Whine I had the paints out, I painted the grey parts on the helmet. Cheers!Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote

Seansull[TK] Posted February 28, 2018 Author Report Posted February 28, 2018 Great thanks! I was out of town last week. Before I left, I started glueing arm armor. I decided to get the tedious part. finished first. Cover stripsGluing inner strips with CA glue. Inner strips on right arm finished. I think I will be gluing the outer strips with E6000 on this build. More to come this week. Cheers!Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1 Quote
Seansull[TK] Posted March 4, 2018 Author Report Posted March 4, 2018 I am continuing with cover strips. I have to glue as much as my magnets and clamps allow, then wait for things to set up. It’s slow, but I do like the forgiveness of the e6000. Since things were going slow, I got started on glueing the shins too. CA for the inner strip and e6000 for the outer. This clamping session will complete the arms and shin joining. Cheers!Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1 Quote
Pretzel Posted March 5, 2018 Report Posted March 5, 2018 ugh!!! I love the look of the shiny new armor. Great work so far on your build. In a way, I now envy you 1 Quote
Seansull[TK] Posted March 6, 2018 Author Report Posted March 6, 2018 Random tasks completed tonight, limited by my magnet supply. I started off working on my sniper knee. I build a small shim that will glue to the shin cover strip. Here the knee is being glued in place. Again, using e6000 for easy future TD conversion if the urge ever hits me. Next up, the front inner strips of the thighs are glued to join the halves. I have decide that painting the bucket isn’t my strong suit. I laid down the black on the ears and vocoder. Finally I took a few side by side photos of my AM 4.5 and WTF bucket. The AM is on the left in the photos. More cover strips tomorrow!Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 2 Quote
Seansull[TK] Posted March 8, 2018 Author Report Posted March 8, 2018 Last night I started off by gluing the read thigh inner strips. Then it was on tho the front cover strips. To speed things up, I went back to CA glue for the rear shin strips. Note to self......don’t use blue tape and hinge method on strips visible from the outside. After setting up I was left with tons of blue tape residue that encountered the glue. I spent about an hour cleaning things up using various techniques. My awl worked best. Finally, I installed the white closure velcro. Since everything else was drying I built my trooping hangars elastic bands. Fast forward to the next day.....hand guard elastic glued to hand guards. And finally tonight, attaching elastic strips to the shoulder bells. Now, I need to let everything dry. Cheers!Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1 Quote
Seansull[TK] Posted March 15, 2018 Author Report Posted March 15, 2018 Work is continuing to progress, but I have been slacking in posting photos. That being said, this might be s long reply! While other parts were setting up, I decided to glue straps on my “trooping” hand guards. Everything laid out and ready to bring strapping. I felt compelled to hide my white closure strip. What better way than son black CF wrap left over from my airplane build!Knee ammo pouch trimming and installation complete. Next up gluing my shoulder straps with e6000. Straps are dry, and now it’s time for shoulder elastic. I decided to use 4 snaps vs gluing to allow for future adjustments. Shoulder Bell and bicep snaps installed. I decided to recruit my wife to help with the sew on snaps for shoulder Bell attachment. This photo catches me up with actual progress. Cheers!Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 2 Quote

Artshot Posted March 16, 2018 Report Posted March 16, 2018 Looking Good, I really need to get around to finishing mine. Quote
Seansull[TK] Posted March 21, 2018 Author Report Posted March 21, 2018 This past weekend I decided to boil my biceps to achieve a rounder base. It turned out really well. I built a jig after measuring the required bicep/forearm gaps. This made installing the two inch straps much easier. I just glued the straps with CA glue. The shoulder bells received their snaps and now the arms are finished. Next, I installed snaps for thigh garter system. Finally, I spent the remainder of the day trying things on and doing my final fitting. I used some helmet padding to line up my shins perfectly. Ukswrath’s helmet electronics installed. Rivets painted. Frown mesh installed. I THINK I am finished with everything! I will spend a little time cleaning and polishing and I should be ready to take submission photos. Finally!!!
