The tops of the right thigh halves should be lined up.  The bottom halves of the right thigh should be uneven.  This is why there is the ammo pack installed at the knee- to cover it up!

Yay for E6000.  Should the left leg be similiar?

The left leg halves should have a better fit with each other.  Disregard the overtrimmed outer half on the left thigh unless that's the look you're going for.

The tops of the left shin are wonky as well.  Which is why it is believed that the sniper knee was put there: to cover the wonkiness.

So I was working adding my rear cover strips to my thighs I noticed on the back of the right this ridge near the back of the knee.

Should I trim the back of the leg on that side to that point or because it flows into the remainder of the ridge it should be there?

Unless you need the return edge for some reason trim it down to about 1/8" thickness.

I did not add the extra ABS as a support on the portions where I created the return edge yet, but will be soon.

Beautiful! nice work Jeff

Thank you Tony and to Cricket as well!

I followed your Anovos PDF build for the measurements Tony, and Cricket thank you blazing the path on creating the return edge on Walts kit, and helping me feel much more comfortable with that process.

GREAT job on that return, Jeff!  Really nice work.  You can't even tell it's a DIY return there.  Outstanding!!!

Only if you get really close and squint :P

Thank you!

Time to make some holes in the Ab and Kidney ABS for some rivets.  All rivets need to be spaced 10mm from the edge but nothing states for the top or bottom.  I started with 20 mm from the top return edge and I measured 10mm from the bottom lip return edge

EqTbjzI-pvTTyqHuBCpoeGKw04B2RhZ0SHHwF5J6znOFYpHhPbP495cRtFuQV-OMDnidLZgmdunzFBeD

Than I measured the distance between the two outer marks and divided by 2 and got my middle point.  I double checked that these were 10mm from the edge and drilled my holes using a 1/8 drill bit.

I lined up the kidney plate to the Ab plate to make sure I got the marks at the correct level and measured 10mm from the edge.

I had to pinch the end of the split rivet to get it into the hole but happier with a tighter fit than one that is too loose.

I might be a little late to the party, but check out this post regarding ab rivet placement.  I seem to recall that the rivets should be somewhere between 15-20mm from top and bottom edges, the middle rivet placed evenly between them.  And you're correct with the rivets being 10mm in from the long edge.

For centurion approval I need to put a snap in the upper right hand corner of the Ab ABS.

I measured 20mm from the verticle outermost return edge 20 mm from the horizontal edge

I drilled my hole.  For my snaps I had started with 5/11 and stepped up to a 5/32 drill bit and honed it a bit to get it to slide in snug.

Using the tool kit that I ordered to set the snaps I put them together.  This tool really makes it much easier to set snaps.

well I got the top right at 20mm.  :salute:

I followed Tonys Anovos build and looked over a few of the reference pics.  I almost brought the top down more but concluded that its placement was just right.

Just a quick thought, won't the belt cover that bottom rivet anyways?  So we would never see it. and really only the middle rivet is off by ~2.5mm at the least and 5mm at the most

Yep, the belt totally covers the rivet.  As long as things are in proportion, don't sweat the few mm here or there.  Note the red lines in the photos below.  You don't want rivets in that range.

So, you don't want this:

If you're building to Centurion, you'll want to make sure that your rivet placement looks something like this based on your armor size:

Post pics of your rivet placement and how things line up on the ab and kidney.  I'm sure you're fine, but it would be good to double check!

I think I am above that second red line as I measured from the second ridge.  I'll get some pics posted later tonight with the rivets in for a better comparison.

Looks good at this point!  It'll be easier to tell how the holes are once you've got the rivets in there.  I had to make adjustments to my own kidney/ab holes after I installed the rivets because two of the rivets ended up looking like they were too close to the edge.  I thought the holes were sufficiently placed away from the edge, but noooo!  :(   The rivet heads will make things look different.

So its suppose to be 10mm from the edge of the rivet to the edge of the ABS?  Is that what they made you do?

It should be that the hole center is 10mm from the edge of the plastic.   I'm sure you'll be fine with how you've got yours!

My problem was that the top two holes were fine, but the bottom hole on the kidney was off.  On the WTF kidney, it's got this odd flare part to it.  It doesn't end in a straight line.  It's difficult to explain, but for me, I've had problems getting the bottom hole on the kidney side properly set.

In the pics of my kidney, my rivets seem to look okay, but I'm not happy with that bottom kidney one.

39913801175_38246d1a88.jpg

As a result, I have removed the bottom rivet and am currently repairing the hole so I can move it a mm or two further away from the edge and a mm up.  I'm totally OCD about these kind of things.  If it's off by a mm, I will do it over and over again until it's perfect.  Which is crazy because it will all be hidden by the belt!!!

I hear you there, I had to work with my OCD on a few things and just say it wont matter because no one will ever know :P

Sorry jumping around on my build again, back to the right thigh ;)

Have the tops aligned and E6000'd together, but I have a slight gap at the back

lfObXHkVbpXt8goYE-vpnuLZIK2f8Ox4_uNhtEEs

When I push on the pieces I can get them to move closer and remove a lot of the gap so I have a small piece of scrap ABS that I will cut to fit inside the ledges

RIb2cVdyb4SIohJsyqFtXnrjTYSWoq42hI4Qm2MhWNMWZatkUUeRiAN_zHZ4IpQtP5tVs84uv1hJyhPZ

I took some 60 grit to the back of the scrap piece and to the inside where it will sit to give the E6000 something extra to grip to.  I glued down one side and clamped allowing to dry and than I will glue the other side.  This will allow me to pull the two pieces closer together rather relaying on tape alone to hold the gap close.  Pictures to follow of completed process.
