bartonajb Posted March 5, 2018 Author Report Posted March 5, 2018 Finally making the last few steps. I just started attaching the bra hooks for the calf closure. Just checking if this gap is right/expected when looking from the inside.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
ukswrath[Staff] Posted March 5, 2018 Report Posted March 5, 2018 Looks about right, just ensure the lower rear halves of the armor are aligned. They look off in the photo but could just be the photo angle. Quote
bartonajb Posted March 5, 2018 Author Report Posted March 5, 2018 Thanks Tony. Your actually right, they are not aligned well enough yet. Going to have to trim down the lower strip and one edge a bit.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
bartonajb Posted March 7, 2018 Author Report Posted March 7, 2018 Just picked this up on Craigslist today for $30. I think I need to alter the pose to be a little less sexyAlthough with a dlt-19 in those arms....Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote

By any chance do you have a large first floor window? That would look awesome looking out of it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
bartonajb Posted March 8, 2018 Author Report Posted March 8, 2018 I think I’m only a few days away from submitting my pre approval pics. Do you all mind looking over my helmet for any improvements? I built it early on before starting my build thread. Thanks!Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1 Quote
lucnak[TK] Posted March 8, 2018 Report Posted March 8, 2018 Looks good! My compulsion for symmetry says that you could have the vocoder paint more symmetrical, but it's certainly not required! Quote
bartonajb Posted March 8, 2018 Author Report Posted March 8, 2018 Thanks for the input fellas. I have the day off an I’m snowed in so touching up details, painting rivet/screw heads and picking off bits of e-6000 here and there. Sniper plate is clamped and gluing with pics to follow. Just need to glue thigh garters on and done!Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1 Quote
bartonajb Posted March 11, 2018 Author Report Posted March 11, 2018 Shins done. Used canon bra hooks with 20 mm front cover strips and 25mm on the back. One cool thing with the RS armor is you can see where the original holes were for the hooks. If you look carefully you can see the second hole about mid arrow. The top hole was 4 cm from the top edge and the middle was 22 cm from the top. The bottom wasn’t visible so I put that at 4 cm from bottom. Also required water bath to get lined up at the back nicely.Trimmed sniper plate to follow upper shin angle.Put a good amount of glue on middle of attachment and clamped the hell out of it.When that was dry moved onto gluing the edges.Final result. And that’s all she wrote! Except I have some rear butt/thigh overlap. What do you all think the best solution would be? Here are a couple of quick shots. Don’t judge me on these... I know the sniper plate was behind thigh... I was aiming more to check thigh placement.Once I get this sorted out I’ll get my pre approval pics up hopefully later this week.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
lucnak[TK] Posted March 12, 2018 Report Posted March 12, 2018 Based on that front photo, it looks like the butt plate section is hanging lower than the cod. You can heat bend that end a bit and also tighten the strap to the cod. Should help a bit. It is possible that you may need to trim something to get these two areas to look right. Regaridng suiting up, don't forget your thermal detonator. I would attach the canvas belt a bit lower as well. Quote
ukswrath[Staff] Posted March 12, 2018 Report Posted March 12, 2018 Fantastic job Andrew Suggestion, try aiming your thigh armor so that your cover strips are facing forward not off to the side, then see how your posterior plate sits. If the plate still sits on top of the thigh armor then you can trim the thigh armor in the back to accommodate it if you wish. This isn't a deal breaker by any means when it comes to approvals but make a difference when trooping. Quote
TheSwede[TK] Posted March 12, 2018 Report Posted March 12, 2018 What Tony said and another suggestion looking at the side shot would be to rise the whole back section up a cm or so...and that would actually make the kidney and ab plate line up even better 1 Quote
bartonajb Posted March 14, 2018 Author Report Posted March 14, 2018 Thanks for the input you guys. I’m currently applying all of your suggestions and getting my pictures up soon.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1 Quote
