Heinous[TK] Posted December 15, 2017 Report Posted December 15, 2017 What tools do you use to trim the ABS plastic? I want to get everything I need for starting my RS armour. Lexan scissors I've seen, curved and straight, on ebay but that's for the thinner plastic on RC cars. I've got 1.5mm ABS. Sand paper I've got. Thanks Quote
gmrhodes13[Staff] Posted December 15, 2017 Report Posted December 15, 2017 Can't go past a dremel (or their cheaper cousins ) I use a cutting disc and drum sander, just finish with a light sand of 400 grit sandpaper to smooth any sharp edges. Quote
catalystofchaos[501st] Posted December 15, 2017 Report Posted December 15, 2017 If you in the Uk I found a craft knife from Wilkos which attaches to your finger which worked great for my helmet cuts. But I think I’ll be getting a Dremel alternative for when I start the armour. The tin cutters work well though for big cuts too. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro Quote

catalystofchaos[501st] Posted December 15, 2017 Report Posted December 15, 2017 It’s easy to use and feels more like cutting with a pen. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro Quote
jethroskull[501st] Posted December 15, 2017 Report Posted December 15, 2017 Fiskars makes one that's available in the States, one more thing to add to the shopping list. Quote
Heinous[TK] Posted December 16, 2017 Author Report Posted December 16, 2017 I found using my dremel the ABS melts and balls up. Maybe I'm cutting too fast? I was thinking of using lexan scissors on the 1.5mm. Score and snap method I've heard about. I'm would like an easy way to cut the parts that need a return edge and was thinking curved scissors might be good. Quote
Timberwoof Posted December 16, 2017 Report Posted December 16, 2017 Score and snap works best. Score slowly and steadily. File the edge down to reasonable flatness. The recommended 3M sander-sponge does a god job on exposed edges. Quote
