paulbeer78 Posted October 13, 2017 Report Posted October 13, 2017 Hi all, I’ve decided to build this blaster for display only, I am planning on upgrading and mod a few things to hopefully give this the used in battle look. I’ve purchased a few upgrades from Tino and will be using his builds as a guide. I have zero skill in anything like this so welcome any advice on how to make things better. So the kits arrived and looks to all be there. So I have no particular order in which I will tackle this build. First I thought I’d hollow out the scope. I got a little carried away and broke through the wall this will need to be filled at a later date. I next decided to try and make a metal trigger guard. Does this shape look about right ? Here is some comparison pics That’s all for now l. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote

Here’s a side by side comparison I put together for he trigger guard, if it helps. :-)That’s sterling vs DD. :-)Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1 Quote

What did you bend yours around ? I did mine by hand but need to round it a little. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
CableGuy[TK] Posted October 13, 2017 Report Posted October 13, 2017 Hiya. By hand also, with these too. With lots of faffing, mine is now like this. :-)Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1 Quote

T-Jay[TK] Posted October 13, 2017 Report Posted October 13, 2017 Hi Paul, good choice to start a build thread here and a nice progress so far. Trigger guard looks okay, maybe you can bring it closer to the trigger to reduce the gap at the bottom and curve that straight section. Not sure what you made the guard from, but please bear in mind, the aluminum stripe in the kit was meant for the scope rail. However, you can surely get the same (or similar) aluminum locally. It's 2x20 mm. Dan (CableGuy) is currently running the same build (DoopyDoo's full resin kit with Completion Set V3.0) and Jesse (Dracotrooper) too. I am following each of you in case I can help and there will surely be a lot to learn from the other builds. Enjoy your weekend and happy building 1 Quote

Dracotrooper Posted October 13, 2017 Report Posted October 13, 2017 Hi Paul! Excited for you as you embark on this great adventure! With patience, forethought and a steady hand, you'll be holding a completed blaster in no time! Familiarity with tools and know-how will develop over time; you'll be a craftsman in your own right. And if you get it wrong, 'green stuff' will come save the day. In my experience, keeping the FISD E-11 Blaster Reference close by is a good idea to give you the lay-of-the-land and insight on the build. I like to then dive into Tino's two builds to show me how it can be done, and done well in reaching personal build goals. Look forward to future posts! Cheers! 2 Quote

paulbeer78 Posted October 13, 2017 Author Report Posted October 13, 2017 Last bit of progress today. Holes drilled out of the barrel.Blank drilled out and bolt fitted. Marked out and drilled 3 holes in the main body and handle, I used shelf holders to secure the 2 pieces.Drilled out the blanks on the front but got carried away so will need to make good with some green stuff Lastly how have you that have done this mod attached the lever to the click thingy.I’m struggling to see how to do it. That’s all for today.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1 Quote

paulbeer78 Posted October 14, 2017 Author Report Posted October 14, 2017 So today my plan was to fit the switch in the handle and for it to click there is probably a quick and easy way to do this but I couldn’t find it, after many failed attempts with various bits of material I settled for a cut down screw and some glue. After channeling out the slot with the dremmel I popped the switch in and filled it with green stuff. Holes cleaned up.While the green stuff dries/sets I thought I’d go back to the scope, this time I filed the smaller end to take the lens then attached the screws.Does this guard sit better ? Thanks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 2 Quote

paulbeer78 Posted October 15, 2017 Author Report Posted October 15, 2017 Having a few struggles today. First I added the grub screw. Then was time to get the mag housing drilled out ready for fitting.Next was time to prep various parts :Now the part that got me gritting my teeth, this should of been an easy but to do but for some reason just wouldn’t work. I had to use green stuff to stop the trigger coming forward and the spring falling out. If there is something I missed please fill me in .Also is the guess looking right or does it need more adapting ? again I got carried away with the sanding and had to use green stuff to reshape the clip. How to I get this to function ? I can’t find anything on the forums.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote

paulbeer78 Posted October 15, 2017 Author Report Posted October 15, 2017 I thought I’d tackle the stock this afternoon, I started by removing the fake pole ( this was a tedious job ) but I think I did ok .I attempted to make the end with a different version of green stuff, it still needs a sanding but otherwise looking ok. Can anyone advise me on the trigger guard, I’d like to permanently fix it but am unsure if the angle is correct. Thanks guys Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
CableGuy[TK] Posted October 15, 2017 Report Posted October 15, 2017 Hi Paul. Doing well with the folding stock. I agree - it’s a bit of a mission getting all of that resin out. :-)Depending on your painting plan, the trigger guard might want to wait. Depends what stages you have in mind for painting. In terms of the shape, it’s probably a little down to personal preference. At a glance, you could probably go ‘out’ a little with the front curve. Nice work so far, mate. :-)Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Hi Paul,Apologies, I’ve just seen that I didn’t reply to this. The original way to do it is below:Essentially, a small price of curved metal to give the resistance. However, check out Tennantlim’s build - he did a handy trick with a shirt collar stay (the little plastic thingy). ;-)I’m currently using a very small spring for mine - about 3 or 4mm high. Hope that helps. :-)Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1 Quote

paulbeer78 Posted October 19, 2017 Author Report Posted October 19, 2017 Not a lot of progress over the last few days. First was to add some metal to the grip and I’m doing so have lost the click in the selector- I’ve decided it’s to much work to pull it all apart again so it’ll have to stay as is. Next I added a rare earth magnet to the mag housing the encased another in the mag using the old top that I cut off. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
