They'll work but it's not the cheapest or smallest way to do it.  Might be worth mocking up sizes too to test fit before ordering.  I say this as I know head size and bucket space varies a lot, what 1 person can fit another won't.

My set up is 2 cage fans, I think 40x20 but I have some 50x15s that would fit just as well.  These are wired through a small switch each to a single USB and a 2300mAh lipstick style USB battery.  Works great and lasts all day, but importantly is small as I have a massive head!

The helmet came with two 12v cage fans fitted and it's a very neat job but unfortunately they don't really work, I can barely feel a breeze from them. They're set up running on a 9v battery, I made up a 12v battery using four 3v button cells and tried running them on that but it didn't make a difference. Some good advice though thanks, I'll try mock fitting to see if there's space but should be okay as I don't have a particularly large head, and I'm bald too :-)

replace them with 5 volt fans and run AA batteries. Not only will they move more air, but the run time will be over 4 hours.
