gmrhodes13[Staff] Posted May 28, 2017 Report Posted May 28, 2017 (edited) DSS TROOP REPORT EVENT: HBF Run for a Reason LOCATION: Perth CBD DATE: 28th May 2017 TIME: 6:30am - 1pm LANDSCAPE/WEATHER: Outdoors, clear day with a cold wind! TROOPERS: Liz - TB13310 Q - TK85421 Stuart - SL51164 Ben - TK10469 Jerry - ID59226 Johnathon - IG21897 Peter- TK98311 Jason - IC86557 Unapproved - Luke 36367 Wranglers: Marie Luke Sarah Rachel Julie Johnathon's Mum & Sister (sorry forgot their names!!) Runners: Sinead Alex REPORT: Troopers began to arrive at PCEC around 6:30am, some were already stationed at the Adina after staying the night. After Ben left a crime scene in Stuart's hotel room toilet, troopers began to kit up in the PCEC Carpark. Another quick toilet break before leaving PCEC, we were off to the star line! As we got closer we soon realised there was A LOT more people than epected, Liz decided to use the good old tactic of scream at people so they move. Stuart got caught for a photo op, but soon powered his way through the crowd and made his wy back to the group. We pushed our way to our starting point where we met up with Peter and his family, already posing for photos! We were soon greated by our friends from PAC, who were also walking in costume! Taking the Guide Dog collection tin was a grea idea, lucky for us lots of people were willing to donate but only had notes on them! After seeing the start time come and go, we eventually crossed the start line! We had a quick interview about our walk then off we went down the road! The walk was long, sometimes cold, sometimes warm, Ben got his butt stickered by some girls who were walking in support of Liver Health, giggling away as he walked off with the sticker stuck to his butt plate. Many photos were taken with and of us along the 4km course, many people surpirised and excited seeing the Empire taking part. As we round the corner in Glouster Park, we soon realised it wasn't over yet, there was still a lap of the park until we reached the end! Walking on grey gravel, Vader has his cape carried like a Bride gets her dress carried by her bridesmaids to keep it clean! As we walked through the park, we collected our Medals, some fruit and found our way over to the Guide Dogs WA spot. Stuart quickly inhaled a banna then, we posed for a few photos with our favorite dog Annie as well as last years Winning Dog named Winston! A few of us were eyeing off Annie to take her home, she is such a lovley girl! Some more photos, then off to find the shuttle bus to take us back to the city, it felt like the never ending walk! Shuttle buses found, we managed to push our way in an all were on the same bus! We had some knocking on the window when we saw Corinne, she had completed the 12km course with some friends! The First and only transport was away! Back to the CBD we went. Once we got off the bus, some headed to public trabspirt home, for others it was ANOTHER walk back to PCEC to change, again the never ending walk. Liz took off her bucket but still managed to get a few smiles and waves from the public, Stuart almost took off his boots and many of us have decided to get sneakers for next year! Back at PCEC around 11:30am, changed and starting to realise how sore we really were. The remaining troopers headed up to the Metro for a bite to eat and a well deserved drink! We counted what money was collected during the event, we managed a good $100, well worth taking the doggy tin! All and all FANTASTIC event! Even if we do feel like death CHARITY: Guide Dogs WA - Total TBA INJURIES: Many MANY Sore bodies, ouchies. Luckily no Wavitis after this walk. ARMOR REPAIRS: Liz's Scout boots will be retired after this event, new ones to be made ASAP! HAPPY PEOPLE: EVERYONE! UNHAPPY PEOPLE: The lady who thought Liz was yelling at her to move, when she was yelling at all the other people around her! MISSION STATUS: Complete, still fundraising!
