First Troop: April 28, 2017
Egleston Patient Honor Guard Children's Healthcare at Egleston

I felt very honored to be able to participate in this troop.  It was the final chemo treatment and bell ringing ceremony for a sweet young boy.

We spent the first half hanging out in the Children’s Hospital lobby, taking photos with patients, staff, and families.  It was really fun to interact with kids and staff in lobby before the event.  Personally, I was very impressed with R2-D2 (don’t tell Lord Vader).

I look like an action figure next to the other trooper.  He's really, really tall!

I learned not to get too close to Jawas; he stole my TD!  Filthy creatures.

It was an emotional moment when the bell was rung.  Glad I had my helmet on.

So proud of this young man and how he has overcome some serious obstacles.  So brave!

And the required selfie after the end of my very first troop.  Got some serious bucket hair going on there...

Second Troop: May 6, 2017
Sun Trust Park Atlanta Braves vs St Louis Cardinals

This tends to be the largest troop for our garrison!

Jorge was making me laugh about something, can't remember what, though!

On our way out down a challenging escalator.  Rey thinks I'm funny.

There was lots of mingling with the baseball fans as they entered the new stadium.

I stood post with another TK who is roughly my height.  I didn’t feel as short next to him!

That's me on the right.

And me with the thumbs up.

Still, I got the “short for a trooper” phrase thrown my way a few times.  I responded very seriously, “The Empire is an equal opportunity employer,” or “The Empire does not discriminate based on height.”  These got some good laughs.   :)  Sometimes I would just stare at them, other times I would hang my head and turn away.  It was all so much fun!  Oh, and I even got someone to double check their picture after taking a photo by saying, “Did I blink?”  Haha!

During the time that we were mingling, we were asked by a Sun Trust Park employee if we wanted to escort the umpires to home plate at the start of the game.  Heck yeah!  A little while later, eight of us were taken through the underground tunnels of the park and behind the outfield.  We split up into two groups of four, and did our duty representing the Empire.

I love this photo!  I'm the trooper with my hand on my heart.  zv288bot is on the far left.

I was trying to get some clarification from this rebel spy.  He said, "Don't walk on the dirt.  Don't walk on the lines.  Don't walk on the grass."  Which left some of us confused to say the least, because we don't have jet packs.

After finding out that we could walk on the grass, we escorted the umpires out onto the field.  I'm on the right.

And as we made our way off the field... (I'm the trooper following up the rear)

Later, I joined two other troopers as we were escorted to one of the VIP suites in the stadium.  There were smiles and photos all around!  One the way back to the break room, we were wrangled into another group of TKs and Rebellion types who were headed in the opposite direction.  I had no idea where we were going, but I got the feeling that it was somewhere important.  We finally ended up in a very large VIP suite, greeted excitedly by a very little boy.  It turns out that this was the suite for John Schuerholz and his family.  Mr. Schuerholz is the president of the Atlanta Braves.  More photos were taken, and Mr. Schuerholz approached me to thank me and shake my hand.   Of course, I didn’t know who he was at the time.  I didn’t realize how important he was until I got back to the break room once another 501st member clued me in.

That's me on the far left in the front.

I was happily exhausted after such a long and active troop.   It took a few days for everything to sink in.  I was a little nervous at the start of this event, but everyone was really helpful and supportive.  Looking forward to my next troop.  #GGIBG!   :D
