TKEddie Posted April 4, 2017 Report Posted April 4, 2017 I was reading the Hero CRL and I didn't understand the butt joint and cover strip method. Can someone explain it please? Quote
allan1313[TK] Posted April 4, 2017 Report Posted April 4, 2017 Here is a little visual sketch. You basically bring the two half together, for instance the biceps, butt them together and cover with a strip. I hope this clears is up a little. 4 Quote
Shanester[TK] Posted April 4, 2017 Report Posted April 4, 2017 Look at post #2 of this thread. http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/16417-butt-joining-am-armor/ Quote
Triple D[TK] Posted April 4, 2017 Report Posted April 4, 2017 exactly what Allan said. I did mine like this but also added another strip on the inside for extra strength. Good luck!! 1 Quote

Shanester[TK] Posted April 4, 2017 Report Posted April 4, 2017 I used scraps to create strips for the inside, as well. Added strength. Quote
Slayer6769[501st] Posted April 4, 2017 Report Posted April 4, 2017 As far as the inside strips goes, you do not need to make them perfect. They are only for strength and do not need to be perfect. They are not seen. I have some butt joints that I used two or three smaller pieces, instead of using one ling strip. That way I could use up my small scrap pieces and save the bigger pieces in case I needed them. 1 Quote
justjoseph63[Staff] Posted April 5, 2017 Report Posted April 5, 2017 Some great there advice about interior cover strips. The most important place to have them is on the calves, as these get a lot of stress from opening and closing them. Some kits include enough extra ABS for these, but scraps will do just fine. They don't have to be pretty (no-one sees them), just functional. HINT: Do the inside cover strips first. 2 Quote
