Haso[TK] Posted April 4, 2017 Report Posted April 4, 2017 I've found with the two AP buckets I've built that the ears fit pretty good just trimmed to the score lines....after a little extra trimmed along the bottoms to help them sit flush, and at the mid-point where they bend. The gaps left between bucket and ears are pretty much then on par with screen used buckets. So not too much fuss about getting them perfect. Sent from my SM-J100Y using Tapatalk 2 Quote

batmanmike Posted April 5, 2017 Author Report Posted April 5, 2017 Test helmet assembly. Time to drill the holes next. Need to go back and do some more reading. I have a bunch of questions: Space between black strip and eyes? Screw placement? Painting tricks, etc. The pictures of it resembling a helmet make me excited Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote

batmanmike Posted April 15, 2017 Author Report Posted April 15, 2017 A little more painting. I'll take any criticism or help not my talent! Still needs a few more coats of gray, and some black touch up later Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1 Quote
justjoseph63[Staff] Posted April 16, 2017 Report Posted April 16, 2017 Looking good, Mike! You were wise to do the black outline first, but you may need to extend it out a bit more. Keep up the great work! 2 Quote

68Brick[TK] Posted April 17, 2017 Report Posted April 17, 2017 Looking Good. Try to keep the opening for your head as small as possible; it keeps kids from seeing right up in there. 1 Quote
batmanmike Posted April 18, 2017 Author Report Posted April 18, 2017 Trimmed and sanded chest tonight! Looking ok minus the scuff I made on the front of it...I'm assuming it is something I can buff out?! Help!? The scuff!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
batmanmike Posted April 19, 2017 Author Report Posted April 19, 2017 More trimming tonight...almost ready to start fitting my armor. Feels like some real progress here's some photos I took, I forgot to take several of the other parts I trimmed tonight Backplate Butt Ab Shoulders Drop boxes I'm concerned about the extra space...any ideas? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
justjoseph63[Staff] Posted April 19, 2017 Report Posted April 19, 2017 That extra space on the back side of the drop boxes is fine, Mike, and will be acceptable to Centurion level. (No one sees it anyway)! Great job on the trimming, but I would slightly round out those areas in the areas circled below. The reason being is that anytime you have a sharp angle like that it can lead to splitting. Keep up the great work! 1 Quote

Help!? The scuff!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Don't worry about that scuff mate! It can be fixed using the 3M headlight repair kit which can be found at Walmart! https://www.walmart.com/ip/3M-Headlight-Restoration-Kit/13023890 I removed a 1/16" gouge out of ammo belt (It's a ukswrath trick I learned from him) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1 Quote
ritzmike Posted April 19, 2017 Report Posted April 19, 2017 So! Sharp angles can split armor? I didn't know that! I'll keep that in mind once I start my build. Thanks guys! Keep it coming. 1 Quote
ABS80 Posted April 19, 2017 Report Posted April 19, 2017 Great job so far, I would personally remove more material around the ears, there should be no steps visible, I put that there for trimming guidance. For the inner drop boxes, no worries just put E6000 all around edges of small boxes and set in place. Mark (AP) 1 Quote
Kredal[TK] Posted August 11, 2017 Report Posted August 11, 2017 I met Mike tonight and we had an impromptu armor party. We got his arm pieces all trimmed down and ready to glue... I gave him some tips about trimming and using Lexan scissors... at the end of the night, I wanted to show him the light at the end of the tunnel, so we made him into a blue tape trim trooper! 1 Quote
