justjoseph63[Staff] Posted March 7, 2017 Report Posted March 7, 2017 Looking SHARP Chris, and great job on that armor! A few small things that might help, though. You will need to paint the center split rivet on your ab at the kidney connection, and I would see about changing out the mesh in your hovi-mic tips before you submit for Centurion. Nice to see all those extra touches.. the new canvas belt, double snaps, and Velcro on the TD clips (wise move)! From a comfort standpoint, I would consider either removing the return edge from the tops of your thighs completely or at least trimming down and sanding the pointy connections at the seams (see photo below) in the front and back. On longer troops these can really be irritating, and possibly snag or tear your undersuit. Overall, a fantastic job, sir, and that blaster turned out awesome! 1 Quote
Haribon72[TK] Posted March 7, 2017 Report Posted March 7, 2017 Good luck trooper. Joseph covered the to-do list. 1 Quote
R2Chris[TK] Posted March 8, 2017 Author Report Posted March 8, 2017 Thanks for the comments and suggestions. The paint on those rivets at the ab and kidney connection has been difficult to keep on there. I have started to use old t-shirts to wrap up the ab and kidney pieces when I put them in my bin - hopefully that will help protect from scratching and keep the paint on there a bit longer. Quote
R2Chris[TK] Posted March 11, 2017 Author Report Posted March 11, 2017 Here is a new picture of the rivets at the ab and kidney connection after painting them again last night: I also noticed that my close up photo on the helmet was not very clear so here is a new photo so you can actually see that I replaced the Anovos mesh in the hovi-mic tips with a coarser mesh (this change was done after the full body photos were taken): Quote
ukswrath[Staff] Posted March 13, 2017 Report Posted March 13, 2017 Hey Chris, thank you for your EI application, let's get started. CRL and EIB Application Requirements: All the required submission photos have been posted. Your armor displays all the necessary elements to qualify for Expert Infantry. Welcome and congratulations! . Beautiful job on your build Jochen Other-Armor Fit/Assembly: In this section we review observations made by your fellow troopers and ourselves. Some observations may lead to suggestions to improve the overall look of your armor. If any suggestion affects any application, it will be listed separately in the above or below sections. Since this section is used to enhance to overall look of your armor we have a few requests. Anovos is notorious for paint over spray, specifically at the teeth. Were requesting troopers to remove the over spray where the teeth meet the gun line. A little bit of mineral spirits and a Q-tip should do the trick. In some cases in the process too much of the original tooth color can get removed. If that happens you may need to repaint the entire frown. Here's a reference photo While on the subject of the helmet. The ear screws Anovos also uses are incorrect. The correct screws should be "V" head and slotted. These will need to be replaced. Reference photo Your Ab to Kidney is out of alignment. upper return edge should be parallel. You may need to tighten or use an alternative material for connecting the two armor sections. This goes for the right side also. We see you posted a new photo so this is more advisory than a requested repair. Reference photo And finally, as Joseph mentioned you might consider rounding off the top rear thighs to help avoid a pinch point. If you aren't having a issue with it then it's up to you. Centurion Suggestions: In this section we prepare you for Centurion. If there were any areas of concern they would be discussed here. We have nothing to add here. Excellent job on your build, hope to see you at Centurion. Quote
magni[TK] Posted March 13, 2017 Report Posted March 13, 2017 Congratulations Chris! See you at Centurion soon! Quote
R2Chris[TK] Posted March 14, 2017 Author Report Posted March 14, 2017 Thank you Tony. I have already been working on getting the alignment of the ab and kidney pieces better but I will also take care of the paint over spray and look for those proper screws for the helmet. The thighs have actually not been an issue for comfort. I completed a 48-story stair climb fundraiser in the armour last month with no problems with the leg pieces at all. I do have a bit of foam in there which seems to be working out well. And thank you everyone else for your comments and suggestions as well. Chris Quote
