Hello everyone!!  As I stated in my welcome post, I've had a dream to build my own Stormtrooper armor since I was six years old.  I am now one tiny step closer to fulfilling that dream.  I was able to locate and buy my Anovos ANH Stunt Kit from a fellow member who was looking to offload the unopened box and kit.  I've laid out all the pieces (picture) and have to admit that I was already feeling overwhelmed and I haven't really started to do anything yet.  And then I noticed the symmetry in the forearms was way off which lead to my first post.  So, I'm backtracking a little bit and starting my build thread now.

I've combed through a lot of the threads and How-To's and feel a little better about how and where to start.  I'm working on gathering the tools and materials to get going on my forearms and biceps.

Here we go!

Great Stuff Garry!!!! Take your time and ask questions! I have found everyone here to be. Dry helpful as I make my own way through the same kit. Good luck to you!!!

Continuing on with my build thread...  I finished the rough cut and trimming of my forearms, biceps, and shoulder bells.  Admittedly, I was nervous getting started as I'm sure most of you can appreciate.  It's difficult to get your self to cut into something new like that.  I'll post photos later as I'm having issues with Photobucket and adding the links to this post.  I have two questions (so far):

1.  Does anyone have pictures of their completed forearms for Centurion Level?  I want to be absolutely sure I know exactly what I'm cutting off in terms of removing the 'return edge.'

2.  During the rough cut of one of my shoulder bells, I started a small crack on the bottom return edge of the shoulder piece.  The crack is about 1/4 inch long.  Does anyone have a recommendation on how to patch this up?

Hi Garry! One of the best places to see armor is right here in the EIB and Centurion submission threads. The applicant lists the armor in the heading of their request, so you can go take a look at REALLY detailed photos of the Anovos kit and feedback on the builds relative to EIB and Centurion standards. I found that REALLY helpful when doing my first build. You can get a feel for the optimal assembly of your kit this way. Here are a couple Anovos Centurion approvals:

http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/40784-tk-82666-requesting-anh-stunt-centurion-status-anovos-309/

http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/40333-tk-10998-requesting-anh-stunt-centurion-status-anovos-303/

As for your crack, you can most likely glue a piece of scrap ABS on the backside and then make some ABS paste to repair the crack. To make ABS paste you use scraps from your armor and cut it up into little pieces like confetti. Then add some acetone (you can get at the hardware store) and mix with a wooden stick. You're going for the consistency of toothpaste. You can then use this to patch cracks or holes. Once dried you can sand and polish and it will be all better!

One final note on Anovos. Their trim lines leave you with a LOT of return edge. Again, look at the pieces in those EIB and Centurion submissions and you will get a feel for where people trimmed those back.

Best of luck to you!

So I've made some progress but it's been slow going the last few weeks.  I've done the rough cut of the body pieces: http://imgur.com/tmj1DBu  and started the measuring and fitment of my forearms and biceps: http://imgur.com/6FkmWSf

I do have a question about the forearms and the gloves/hand guards.  I've pretty much finished the fitment on my left forearm and bicep.  I'm going for Centurion so I removed the return edge on my forearm and got the size really nice so it fits over my hand as I slide it on my forearm.   I haven't gotten my L3 hand guards yet.  I was thinking that when I have my bicep and forearm on my arm for my armor, how do I put on the glove with the rubber hand guard?  No way my forearm piece will fit over the glove and guard (if I put the glove on first).  Do you put the gloves on after the forearms and shove the end of the glove up into and under and forearm piece?

I've searched and haven't been able to find a video, etc. of how troopers but on their armor with the Centurion level gloves/hand guards.

Thanks - Garry

You got it Garry. Put your forearms on first then your gloves.

A few more steps in the process completed and my forearms and biceps are taking shape.  Left bicep completed.

I did have a slight issue on gluing down the cover strip on the back of the left bicep.  I'm sure if I didn't get enough glue on the pieces or if I didn't use enough clamps/magnets (or both) but I have a small gap on the edge of the cover strip that is not fully engaged to the bicep piece:

I was going to see about fixing it but decided to wait since it's on the back of my bicep.  Should I leave it as is?  Or try to fix it?  And if I go forward with fixing it, any advise on how to do so?  Thanks!!

I've finished my forearms and biceps (no strapping yet) and everything seems to be fitting good:

Moving on to the thighs now - fitment , trim, fitment, trim...

Thighs: http://imgur.com/KmK2yAT

After working on the thighs over the weekend, I found had enough room on the top of the left thigh to trim out the curved space for the cover strip to be flush on each side.  Can someone tell me how far up or down the thigh piece is supposed to fit?  Should the bottom of the thigh stop at the top of or just above the knee?  Or should the top of the thigh come up as far as possible?  What is the proper placement of the thigh pieces?

I didn't do anything more with the thighs from my last post.  I didn't know how they were going to fit in the front with the Abs and in the rear with the Posterior so I decided to start working on those and fit the thighs later.  Had a very productive weekend.  Ab buttons painted:

Installed split rivet, snaps, and strap for Ab to Posterior:

On your question about thighs - all pieces fit relative to each other so it's best to do fittings with the other pieces and also with undersuit on not pants so you ensure you are getting proper and correct fit.  That being said, thigh should be high enough but there should be space between cod and thigh.  Also a bit of space between thigh and knee.  check screen reference photos.  Short troopers may have less space, taller troopers more.  In general, I put my thigh on so that I can bend my leg and just feel the bottom of my thigh at the back of knee.  But I'm taller so I have to kind of split the difference between cod and knee gap and ensure I'm relatively even and proportional.  Hope that helps!

Just a quick question, Garry.. GREAT to hear that you are headed for Centurion, but are you planning on modding the Anovos bucket from a Stunt to a Hero?  I did it, and as far as I know I am the only one to do it so far.  I reached level 3 with mine and can give you a few tips if you decide to go that route, just PM me.

Worked on getting the pieces of the torso put together - connected the back, kidney, posterior, chest, and ab pieces.  Also attached the strap and snap for the left side.  http://imgur.com/qi99iaF

Will try a fitment check soon and see how everything is matching up.

The build has been slow going lately but I have made some progress.  I've working on the strapping for the torso and the shoulder bells:

I also added a 'tongue' and 'groove slot' to add some extra support on the side:

I saw the idea for the support on another build but can't remember exactly where (or who) it was posted.  But thanks to however it was - the addition works great!

Completed the strapping for the shoulder bells, biceps, and forearms.   https://imgur.com/wVqRDM1

Was going to see if I needed a strap from the shoulder bell to the bicep given I added the clip on the bicep.  Any thoughts?  Is the clip on the bicep and the strap across the bottom of the shoulder bell usually good enough?  Or should I add the strap from the shoulder bell to the bicep as well?

Hey Garry, nice build:duim: bicep-clip should be enough so I say put the arms on and see how it works:salute:

When I started putting together and fitting the torso pieces, I noticed right away that the top shoulder tabs of my back plate were digging into my back.  After researching the issue, it seems that it's a common problem with taller troopers.  I considered reshaping the tabs with a hot water bath but I had already glued my shoulder straps and snap and wasn't sure what the water would do to the glue.  So, I made the unnerving decision to use a heat gun on the tabs.  I know, I know,... using a heat gun on the tabs went against all the recommendations I could find but I had to move forward.  I guess I was lucky because the process of using the heat gun seems to have worked out for me.  I put the torso on for a fitment check and the tabs on the back plate sit really comfortable on my back now.

Using a heat gun is not a process I would recommend on reshaping the tabs - I was absolutely terrified to use it.  Just thankful that it worked out and the fit seems to be really good now.
