Daetrin[Admin] Posted September 9, 2008 Report Posted September 9, 2008 The goal of Elite & the CRL is not prop recreation, and not to capture flaws. The color variations, cracks, etc. are not intentional and are just a result of the technology back then, and the budget. I think the goal should be uniform whiteness. I had at one point three different colors of white on my suit, and hated it so much I had the whole thing repainted. Worth every penny. Now, if you want to do prop recreation that's totally cool too, but if it's too film accurate to the point that it looks bad close up, you may have issues with it being accepted. Lastly - I think small amounts of wear is acceptable. In fact, some prefer a few scuffs here and there. Quote
Timmer Posted September 19, 2008 Report Posted September 19, 2008 In the original post it states: "An ANH Hero Stormtroopers should have:" I just wanted to get confirmation that "Hero" was just a typo, and should read "Stunt", as these are requirements for a an ANH Stunt Thanks for any clarification. Daetrin[Admin] Posted September 19, 2008 Report Posted September 19, 2008 It's a typo - I'll get it corrected. Quote
hosaka Posted July 29, 2009 Report Posted July 29, 2009 Is this official yet? I'm hearing FX buckets are still acceptable (and this is straight from a face-to-face talk with 501st members), but these standards clearly rule out FX buckets...I'm a bit confused, appreciate any clarification. Quote

The reality is this: 1) There is no current official 501st CRL for *any* costume. 2) I have an action item to talk to Thomas (LMO) about when we can expect one for the TK costume. 3) Until such time as there is a 501st CRL for the TK costumes, we here at FISD will post one that we believe should be adopted by the Legion. It will *not* be an official 501st standard. To be clear, as of today there is no documented 501st standard for this costume - people are going off of memory and custom. Quote

I think I'm getting more confused about how all the organizations interact. Sounds like there's no 501st restriction (i.e., I could get a TK designation even with an FX bucket), but the FISD is currently providing recommendations for more consistent/authentic armor (for obvious reasons). Does that sound right? Either way, my MRCE should arrive next week (and the FX will be a good practice run build). This CRL is a great idea, by the way, especially for trooper-hopefuls like myself. Daetrin[Admin] Posted July 30, 2009 Report Posted July 30, 2009 The 501st currently allows FX helmets, but considering you can get nicer helmets for the same price they're slowly making their way out of the Legion. Quote
