It's about time, Shawn! LOL  Looking great, sir.  I noticed that the rivet(s) on your thigh ammo pack have an indentation of some sort.  They should be solid head fasteners, though.  If you should need to replace them it's really easy, and I can shoot you a few of either the double cap or split rivets that will work (no charge).  Nice pack!

LOL.  I would have done this sooner, but I am constantly building HWT packs for people.  Not leaving me much time to work on my own stuff. :D

You are correct.  It appears I missed that one. :0Lighten:

Thank you for the offer.  I will check my inventory tonight and see if I have 2 split rivets left.  If not, I will definetly take you up on your offer.

Thank you for your advice and positive feedback.

Looking good Shawn! As noted by Joseph about the rivet. The ammo pack needs to be mounted lower in the formed edge. And Sly and Tony might want you to close the gaps on your sides between ab and kidney. Love the weathering and your pack, obviously!<br>

Looks like #6 is coming!

Thanks. Unfortunately the only way for me to completely close the gaps will be for me to take off the current shims and replace them with bigger ones. Alot of work, but i will do it if I have to.

They got me on those two points. For me the fix was, put the fork down fatty.

Ok. I guess I will just have to replace them. Looks like I will be ordering 8 more split rivets.

LOL,I love these guys, they are all out to help you and its what FISD is all about. Troopers helping Troopers.

I will have a quick look over this for you, but the rivets on the Knee pack and the positioning are a definite fix for Centurion. I will have a closer look at those side shims later tonight as i have to step out for a while but just thought I would let you know at least about the knee as per the level 3 CRL

For level three certification (if applicable):

  • Thigh ammo belt is attached to thigh with a solid head rivet or fastener in the upper corner and fastened to the lower thigh ridge. Standard pop rivets are not accurate.

Correct possition Thought I would use Randy's photo from his Centurion review :duim:

Thanks for everything guys. I will make the adjustment to the thigh ammo pack as soon as Joseph's split rivets come in. In regards to the shims, i am currently losing weight so hopefully my belly will be small enough soon. Haha

I have removed and reinstalled the thigh ammo pack to the proper location and angle.  I had no idea it was so off.

I have also replaced the Pop Rivets with SPLIT RIVETS provideded by Justjoseph63  .

Andrew,

I have made the corrections.  See the post above.

Andrew,

Looks perfect Randy, now those side shims will also need to be rectified. For centurion, they need to sit flush with the kidney plate and the seam filled with ABS paste, sanded and then polished.

Or, you can keep working on losing the weight you mentioned in a previous post and do away with shims completely.

Which ever you choose, we will be right here for you when your done. :duim:

I will go ahead and alter them. Is there a thread showing how to make it?

Nice job on the rivet fix, Shawn!  Making ABS paste is actually pretty simple, but there are some caveats.  You will need Acetone, a small glass jar with a lid, some ABS pieces. a few popsicle sticks or the like, and some patience.  This is how I have done it:

I cut the ABS pieces into very small pieces/slivers, put them in the glass jar along with about half as much acetone, mix it up a bit, seal the jar and wait.  Depending on how small you cut up the ABS, this can take a while.  Stir occasionally.  The end result should have the consistency of toothpaste, but a bit runnier.  Make sure there are no lumps, (important).  You may have to add more acetone or ABS as needed.

Clean and lightly sand down the area about 1/8 inch on both sides of the seam.  Apply this stuff sparingly, using only enough to fill the gap.  The reason I mention sparingly is that there will be less to sand down later.  Let it dry (I waited overnight) and then you can sand it down level with the rest of the armor.  I used 220 grit to start and finished up with 320.  You can hit it with Novus scratch remover after for a more polished look, (or just weather it).  Hope this helps!

NOTE:  Although fingernail polish remover contains acetone, it is not nearly strong enough to melt ABS easily.  Go to Lowe's or Home Depot and get a can of the heavy duty stuff.  Trust me.

Don't give up!  You are SO close, and I look forward to welcoming you to the rank of HWT Centurion!

Your a busy man Shawn! Can't wait to see the new pictures!

Below are 2 pictures showing the completely redone shims connecting my ab plate to my kidneys.  ABS paste was used to smooth out the seams.  I have added the battle damage.

I should have done this a long time ago.  It is a much more comfortable fit.

Also, I uploaded these pictures from facebook (I figured out a way to completely bypass photobucket using facebook).
