But now I have the time to do the preparations in time for the armor to arrive.. I will buy a bunch of velcro (heavy industrial), band, snaps, glue (e-6000?), create the strapping system (web) - everything tried out before.. But now the difficult part.. The paint.. As some of you saw in the thread by Rolf (TD-252) we have some hard challenges in Denmark to get the best paint: Rustoleum: Painter Touch: Sandable Primer (White) Rustoleum Professional High Performance Enamel (Gloss White) sku #7592 Dont know how much (how many cans) I will need in order to complete the armor (including helmet).. And dont know if any one could help me in shipping some to me or let me know where and how to order online - shipment to Denmark... Anything else I should think of? Of course buying a Dremel and good "knife".. What about correct ANH ab buttons?, I have holster and Canvas belt, under armor, gloves, neck seal, boots and a nice Hyperfirm E-11... And... tk0000[501st] Posted July 2, 2008 Report Posted July 2, 2008 I would paint the abbs buttons personally. One of them is smaller than the rest. Someone had a very nice tutorial using liquid laytex over buttons or stickers, remove buttons, paint, remove laytex. presto. I'm really considering taking mine to an auto body shop to have the white painted and sealed to prevent yellowing a few years down the road. I'll paint the details myself depending on what the decals look like.................if it even comes with decals that is? Quote
TK-4510[501st] Posted July 2, 2008 Report Posted July 2, 2008 Well I know the helmet sucks up almost one can of paint. The armor probably 5-6 cans. I will let you know soon as I am painting a TE2 armor set right now. You will need some wet or dry sand paper too. Maybe a tack cloth as well. Quote

Really interesting regarding the auto body shop to have the white painted and sealed - Love to see the result! Could also be a kitchen store - which spraypaints the kitchen furniture... Interesting.. Regarding the ab button I was considering VaderDave's solution.. Went for it for my FX - they worked great! I am completely slammed with projects and the camera is on a temporary hiatus. You can PM me though and I will help all I can. No the armor is Pauls. He asked me to convert his TK to a TD. So I am repainting the whole thing rustoleum high gloss white and re-doing his double sig helmet to be a "move along". When he gets it back it will be high gloss and he will not want to weather it. BUT he has the fullers earth on hand and will start on it as soon as he gets it I may post pics of the finish when its all cured. As far as the ab buttons go, I just hand painted mine with midnight blue and ad grey 5 Mike Quote

Armor that is...Lid is a no brainer... After trimming. before assembly and tape off parts that will be glued together. I painted my biker scout in 2001 and is now yellowing. My 2000 ABS (non painted) TK fx is starting to yellow as well. I'll turn it into sand trooper or sell it. I'll prob repaint biker scout. I had ABS plastic motor cycle body kit painted in 2003 for $250 and it looks the same as it did the day i got it back from the shop (even the white parts) I leave it parked outside except in the winter. Even then its got a cheap cover in the unheated garage. That leads me to think about getting the armor painted professionally. It would be worth the exra money for the peace of mind when on an accurate set of armor. Yellowing makes my toes curl up. Quote
