cwolfe[TK]
Hey all, Note: For some reason a lot of my pictures disappeared in my thread. Sorry I picked up a Walts Trooper Factory TK kit recently when he was letting kits go that had parts from different pours. It finally came in yesterday. I've just been doing inventory and research up to this point. I'm the kind of guy that likes to collect everything for the build before I start it. Unboxing I found some assembly had been done. The biceps and shins were put together. The calfs were left undone. I laid everything out and it all seems to be there with the exception of finishing strips which are on the way. This is my first TK build. I 've been building radio controlled airplanes, and drones for the past few years and it appears I have most of the tools in my arsenal already to do this. Feel free to chime in. Super pumped CW Edited June 16, 2017 by cwolfe
cwolfe[TK]
I pulled out the biceps this evening with the intention of cleaning them up a bit. I discovered the left to be different from the right. From my research, the left is supposed to be more of an oval and the right more of a circle. Right? Kacrut[501st]
this from WTF?... I didn't know they partly assembly.... is it good?
cwolfe[TK]
this from WTF?... I didn't know they partly assembly.... is it good? They don't partly assemble generally speaking. It's not bad. I've worked the biceps. They fit better. I'll add some pics a bit later.
cwolfe[TK]
Before and after. They fit much better now. I applied some hot water to the oval one to round it out a bit more. Edited October 19, 2016 by cwolfe
Ryth_[501st]
I did the same to mine biceps. One side were way to oval. Hot water did the trick after a few tries. Assembled shins? Did not get that....
cwolfe[TK]
. I did the same to mine biceps. One side were way to oval. Hot water did the trick after a few tries. Assembled shins? Did not get that.... I got this kit discounted from Walt. Some of the parts are from different pours so the white is a little off. Honestly, I can't even tell. The biceps were assembled and the finishing strip has been applied to the front of the shins. The calf has been left undone. I have no idea why they came like that, but the work looks ok. I can live with it. Thanks for chiming in. I'm all over your build thread now. CW Edited October 20, 2016 by cwolfe
cwolfe[TK]
I'm having a heck of a time uploading pics. I've made some progress. I have the forearms and shoulder bells trimmed. I still have to fit the forearms and do the final trimming. Then I'll assemble them. cwolfe[TK]
I'm not sure what to do with these shins. They came partially assembled and that's fine, but the trimming on the back of one of them has me worried. It's way off center with not much to work with. cwolfe[TK]
This is where we I stand so far. The bucket build has me a little scared. I'm saving that for last.
cwolfe[TK]
Now. To let these dry for about 48 hours.
troopermaster
The shins are assembled incorrectly. They are two inner halves on one leg and two outer halves on the other. Not a big deal since a lot of the screen-used armour was assembled this way and some armour kits do not come with four correct parts anyway (some have duplicate parts), but the back of the knees will not line up so well as you have found out. You can either leave them, trim the backs or disassemble them and reassemble them correctly.
cwolfe[TK]
I appreciate you chimming in. That and unfortnauntly. the left one is trimmed too short. There's no way it will fit over my boot and close in the back, I'm going to have to get a new set. They weren't assembled by me. cwolfe[TK]
The thighs are coming along. I did the outer strips with E6000 but did the inner strips with 5 minute Epoxy.
cwolfe[TK]
My TK boots came in. They are disco-ready. A test fit was in order. Oh yeah... CW
cwolfe[TK]
Time to shift gears a bit. I've been dreading the bucket build, but mustarded up some guts today and started work on it. Sometimes I even impress myself with my Dremel work. It was nice to have the black Series helmet as reference. What do you think about those teeth?
