SupRsloth[TK] Posted October 19, 2016 Report Posted October 19, 2016 (edited) Finally starting my troop log. My very first troop was at the Waterloo Bucks minor league baseball game for Star Wars night on June 18th 2016. It was great to finally get out for my very first troop. We even had a kid who brought a Star Wars picture for us all to sign. Pretty crazy to have someone ask for an autograph of an obscure TK-50613! Edited August 27, 2023 by SupRsloth Updated title Quote
SupRsloth[TK] Posted October 19, 2016 Author Report Posted October 19, 2016 (edited) Pretty lucky that my second troop was at the Weird Al concert in Cedar Rapids Iowa on August 9th 2016. It was miserably hot in armor but was an absolute blast with a great group of guys. Edited July 9, 2017 by SupRsloth 1 Quote
T K[501st] Posted October 19, 2016 Report Posted October 19, 2016 Awesome! Thanks for sharing with us. And Al! He's wearing our shirt we gave him. 1 Quote
SupRsloth[TK] Posted October 23, 2016 Author Report Posted October 23, 2016 (edited) Troop #3 was October 22nd 2016 at Oak Leaf Comics in Mason City, Iowa for Halloween event. Mingled and took pictures with a lot of kids and lead a mini costume parade to the city park and back. Funniest part of the day was a 3 year old iron man who said I was a better storm trooper than my counterpart. We asked him why and he said "because you're just so awesome!" SupRsloth[TK] Posted November 1, 2016 Author Report Posted November 1, 2016 (edited) 31-October-2016 : Not an official troop but I promised my son that once my armor was complete I'd trick or treat with him on Halloween. Loads of fun. Edited July 9, 2017 by SupRsloth Quote
SupRsloth[TK] Posted November 14, 2016 Author Report Posted November 14, 2016 (edited) Troop #4 was at my local library in Cedar Falls, Iowa for their first ever LitCon on November 12th, 2016. Great turnout and had some excellent support from our brothers in the Mando Mercs. Edited July 9, 2017 by SupRsloth Quote
SupRsloth[TK] Posted January 29, 2017 Author Report Posted January 29, 2017 (edited) Troop #5 was the best one yet. We trooped at the Iowa Braille Challenge at the Iowa Department for the Blind on January 28th 2017. It was pretty special talking with the blind kids and seeing their surprise and enjoyment touching our armor. This was one of those troops which is the exact reason I joined the 501st. SupRsloth[TK] Posted February 26, 2017 Author Report Posted February 26, 2017 (edited) Troop #6 was the Child Abuse Prevention Services Healthy Family fair in Marshaltown Iowa on February 25th 2017. Always fun helping out a charitable organization. This was a standard wander the venue and take pictures with the kids. Lot's of smiling little faces. We were also able to get a fun picture with the Marshaltwon Police. Edited July 9, 2017 by SupRsloth Quote
SupRsloth[TK] Posted March 5, 2017 Author Report Posted March 5, 2017 (edited) Troop #7 was for Kidsfest in support of the nonprofit Children and Families of Iowa in Des Moines Iowa on March 4th 2017. Another standard troop wandering the venue and taking pictures with the kids. The highlight of the troop for me was the request from a probably 5 year old boy to sign my Stormtrooper autograph. Always great to make a kids day. Also my first experience with a kid bashing me on the helmet from behind because he thought it was funny. That experience I could do without. Good thing I have tactical helmet padding otherwise it probably would have hurt. Here's the motley crew of 501st and Mandalorian Mercs who supported the event. Edited July 9, 2017 by SupRsloth Quote
SupRsloth[TK] Posted April 3, 2017 Author Report Posted April 3, 2017 (edited) Troop #8 was at the 4th annual RodCon on April 1st 2017 in Cedar Falls Iowa. RodCon takes place at the Rod Libary at the University of Northern Iowa. We had a booth showing off the cool new Korriban Squad banner, held a panel on joining the 501st legion, and posed for a ton of pictures. All around great troop supported by the Mandalrian Mercs and our local little Commander Fox. This pic was featured as the #501stPicofTheDay on Twitter. The entire crew suited up. SupRsloth[TK] Posted May 6, 2017 Author Report Posted May 6, 2017 (edited) Troop #9 was for Star Wars day at the University of Iowa Children's hospital on May 4th 2017. This was the first time the 501st was invited to the hospital, but it definitely won't be our last. We had a huge turnout of troopers to support the event. This was one of the most powerful troops that I've been on to date, and is the kind of troop that is exactly what I joined for. To see these very sick kids forget about their illness for an hour and just be kids was fantastic. I was forced choked, had battles, and danced with these amazing kids. All the awesome troopers! Battling a princess. Standing guard at the event. Edited July 9, 2017 by SupRsloth Quote
SupRsloth[TK] Posted July 9, 2017 Author Report Posted July 9, 2017 Troop #10 was for Star Wars Night at the Waterloo Bucks Northwoods League baseball game in Waterloo Iowa on 8 July 2017. Glad my 10th troop was the one year anniversary of my very first troop which was also at the Bucks game. Overall great troop. I also got my first hugs from a little fan at this troop. Great to be able to make someones day. Keeping the stands safe from the rebels. Showing the power of the dark side. The entire crew with part of the Bucks team. Quote
SupRsloth[TK] Posted July 23, 2017 Author Report Posted July 23, 2017 Troop #11 was for Star Wars Night at the Quad City River Bandits minor league baseball game in Davenport, IA on July 22nd 2017. This was my first time trooping with members of another garrison. Central Garrison members from Iowa, Nebraska, and Minnesota were joined by members of the Midwest Garrison. Awesome time and great to see the big turnout.' Just Clowning around The entire crew Just another day in the empire. Quote
SupRsloth[TK] Posted October 1, 2017 Author Report Posted October 1, 2017 Troop #12 was September 30th 2017 at DBQCon in Dubuque Iowa. This a small Con with the usual vendors, crazy costumes, and a few celebrities. It was an early and long day, but I had a blast greeting fans at our 501st booth and stopping for photos wandering around the crowd. Got to troop with several people I haven't trooped with before including two Scout Troopers from St. Louis, Boba Fett from Dubuque, and our newest TK from Iowa City. Always great to meet new troopers. Quote
SupRsloth[TK] Posted October 19, 2017 Author Report Posted October 19, 2017 (edited) Troop #13 was October 12th 2017 at the Cedar Falls Iowa Public Library Star Wars Trivia Night. This was my first two trooper troop and first time taking rapid fire questions from the crowd. Some of the kids were super serious in their questions to us in between trivia rounds which was pretty awesome. Little known fact learned from my fellow TK is that the Stormtrooper pajamas of choice are Darth Vader Underoos. Edited October 19, 2017 by SupRsloth Quote
SupRsloth[TK] Posted October 29, 2017 Author Report Posted October 29, 2017 Troop #14 was October 28th 2017 for Night Eyes at the Blank Park Zoo in Des Moines, Iowa. This was probably the coldest outdoor troop I've done so far with temperatures in the low 40s F. We had a great turnout of our local troopers as well as the Mercs. There was a pretty constant stream of people. Lots of pictures, high fives, and a few hugs from some little fans. All around great troop. The entire crew. Having a little fun with the Peanuts gang. Quote
SupRsloth[TK] Posted January 22, 2018 Author Report Posted January 22, 2018 Troop #15 was at the very first Star Wars night for the Waterloo Blackhawks 20 January 2018 in Waterloo, IA. Got to escort Vader onto the ice for a puck drop, gave out many imperial high fives, and all around had a good time. The entire group. Enlisting a service dog for the glory of the Empire. Quote
SupRsloth[TK] Posted April 8, 2018 Author Report Posted April 8, 2018 Troop #16 was at RodCon at the University of Northern Iowa Rod Library on 7 April 2018. Large turn out of troopers and a constant stream of people at this event. Lots of pictures taken, a couple of autographs given, and hosted a panel about the 501st. We also made the front page the local paper. Quote
SupRsloth[TK] Posted May 13, 2018 Author Report Posted May 13, 2018 Two troops again this week. Troop #19 was for Star Wars night at the Stead Family Children's Hospital at the University of Iowa in Iowa City Iowa on 4th May 2018. Troop #20 was for Star Wars family event at the US Army's Rock Island Arsenal in Rock Island Illinois on 5th May 2018. Trooping at the University of Iowa Children's Hospital is always an amazing and humbling event. These kids go through more than I can imagine and having the chance to bring a smile even for a short while is exactly the reason I'm in the 501st. Amazing group of Bad Guys Doing Good. The entire crew at the event A snap of me from the local TV station video of the event Rock Island Arsenal was a fun event for military families and families for those that work at the base. A great opportunity to give back to those who serve our country. Lots of fun lightsaber battles and various other shenanigans ensued. Fighting some kind of battle. Cheering on the little trooper as he annihilated the rebel scum at air hockey. Running from the beating I was taking from a few hundred Jedi padawans. Quote
SupRsloth[TK] Posted July 16, 2018 Author Report Posted July 16, 2018 Troop #21 was at Gran Festival in Hampton, IA June 9th 2018. This was a troop to raise money for the La Luz Hispana Outreach Center. This was a two person troop with the Admiral. The event consisted of wandering the crowd and ensuring imperial order was still in place. This kid had it figured out (check out the shirt). Quote
SupRsloth[TK] Posted July 16, 2018 Author Report Posted July 16, 2018 Troop #22 was at the Waterloo Bucks North Leauge Baseball July 7th, 2018 in Waterloo, IA. We had a great turnout of troopers and one of the biggest crowds I've seen at a Bucks game. The usual pictures, high fives, autographs, and all around good time in the heat.Preparing to take the field by force if necessary Standing guard as Vader prepares to throw out the first pitch. Quote
