08/05/16 – New York Yankees Star Wars night – Bronx, NY

The 501st Legion's Empire City Garrison attended the New York Yankees Star Wars night at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York on Friday August 5^th, 2016.

 

This was the first time the New York Yankees ever held a Star Wars night and the Empire City Garrison was happy to support it along with friends The Empire Saber Guild, The Mandolorian Mercs, and the Rebel Legion.

 

Empire City members arrived at Yankees stadium at approximately 3pm. After going through security they were escorted to their dressing room. Yankees management came in the dressing room at this time and briefed all of the costume groups on their roles for the night. At 5pm the Empire City troopers headed out to their locations for photo ops with the fans as the doors to the stadium opened up to the game attendees. For the next hour and a half, the fans were treated to getting photos with their favorite Star Wars characters. The fans were blown away as they lined up to get their photos taken with the amazing looking Star Wars characters throughout the stadium.

 

After a short break back at the dressing room, ECG troopers headed down to the field entrance area to line up for the Star Wars parade that was to take place on the field. Led by the Dark lord himself Darth Vader, all of the characters paraded around the field for all see. The crowd went nuts the entire time the parade was going on. This was truly an amazing moment as the Star Wars theme was played as the characters took over Yankee stadium’s field.

Darth Vader and his squad of stormtroopers were kept on the field for a few activities which included the announcing of the games umpires.

This was an amazing event which brought a lot of smiles and a huge treat to the attendees of the game. It was an honor to finally support the greatest sports franchise in all of sports history and ECG hometown heroes the New York Yankees AND their fans.

This was an awesome awesome experience I gotta say. We've done the NY Mets year after year and the Yankees finally pulled through to bring the Star Wars experience to the fans at the stadium.....

 

All our troopers did an amazing job....I was so happy to be a part of it. Thank you Steve for posting this here!
