Strength Posted August 1, 2016 Report Posted August 1, 2016 (edited) I figured, after seeing SO MANY awesome pics in here, I'd throw my trooping pics up. I can't share pics from my first troop. I made a decision to go ahead and do the troop no one wants to be a part of. I stood guard over the casket of a 6 yr old fellow Star Wars fan. I tell ya, I'd do it again in a heart beat. It meant a lot to the family that we were there, and i was honored that this was my first. Second was a wedding. We patrolled for rebels, danced the YMCA, and danced off against a couple ladies. *on the right, then left. Third was pretty fun too! The "aawwe" and gaps of the kids when we entered...totally worth it. Almost every kid's parents wanted pics with us too, and i would too! Even found a random jedi, because the library is a great place to learn. *on the right. My 4th troop was a short notice, but we had a blast. Thanks to the tips I read about interacting with the public, I had fun walking around interacting with everyone. I scared the people in the food trucks asking for blue milk. I would go around and ask people to look at their devices, only to say this isn't the Droid I'm looking for. And whenever a kid had their picture taken I would tell the parents "you want your picture taken too", and they would come over to get a picture taken with us as well. It was hot, we were all sweaty, but in the end it was really fun. I'm also really glad I installed fans in my bucket. *on the far left. Looking forward to the Comic Show this weekend, first convention trooping. Sent from my SM-N920T using Tapatalk Edited August 15, 2016 by Strength 6 Quote
justjoseph63[Staff] Posted August 1, 2016 Report Posted August 1, 2016 This just goes to show you how diverse troops can be, Paul. Most tend to be fun, of course, (even if you do sweat a lot), but then there are those that are more somber, like the funeral you stood guard over. I think those are the ones that mean the most on a personal level, and at times like that it's probably a good thing that we wear buckets, if you know what I mean. Glad to see that you are getting out there and actually trooping, and putting smiles on faces! It seems that many of those who go through the process of building their armor, and then getting it approved simply disappear, sad to say, or do 1 or 2 troops, never to be heard from again. It's great to see that you and the folks in the Starr Garrison are staying active, (even those pesky Rebels, LOL), and making a positive influence. Thanks for sharing the pics, and TROOP ON! 1 Quote

Strength Posted August 8, 2016 Author Report Posted August 8, 2016 (edited) Then i got to be a part of a Vader girl who had a bad experience with Vader at the Disney park fall back in love with Vader thanks to our squad. I got a picture with her a few minutes before suiting up. And when she was scared of our Vader, I, a stormtrooper, walked over and asked if she would take a picture of with us since I got a picture with her earlier. This was after she told her mom no to getting a picture with us. She said yes to me. I don't know what our Vader did or said to her, but he healed a wound for this little girl. Even though Vader was the star, I'm glad I could ask the question that started the whole process. Her mother thanked us profusely, but it's all in a day for the 501st. TRULY the highlight of my weekend. Sent from my SM-N920T using Tapatalk Edited August 8, 2016 by Strength 7 Quote

pewpewpew[TK] Posted August 8, 2016 Report Posted August 8, 2016 Cool. I thought that was Adam Baldwin. I'm watching The Last Ship right now. Good series.
That picture of Vader hugging the little one is beautiful. Good work.
You also have a very charismatic looking mug. You should have asked Adam Baldwin for his agents number. Although, for all I know you could have the acting ability of Mark Hamill. 1 Quote
Strength Posted August 8, 2016 Author Report Posted August 8, 2016 (edited) Thanks! I should have been an actor, but i am one when I'm in my kit. Here's the coin: This is the challenge coin he dropped on the table Sunday morning with a handful of us around. He donated it to our Squad, and it's the first celebrity donation we've ever had. Because he had so much fun with us I asked him how to get in contact with him. He gave us the email of his agent. We're hoping to reach out to him and work with him and any charities he holds close to his heart. Personally, I'm hoping he can become a friend of the legion. Cool. I thought that was Adam Baldwin. Strength Posted August 13, 2016 Author Report Posted August 13, 2016 (edited) #6 - Trooping, trooping on Friday afternoon... We were going to troop a Corp Challenge, BUT it got rained out. "Corporate Challenge is a 10-week-long Olympic-style competition that benefits Special Olympics Texas. Organizations and companies from around North Texas compete against each other in Olympic-style events and raise money for Special Olympics." Having worked with special needs kids as a kid myself, I was excited to troop this event. Instead, we trooped the lobby of the hotel, and y'all know how it goes when you walk into a room. We had a blast none the less. Edited August 15, 2016 by Strength 1 Quote

Dark PWF[Staff] Posted August 15, 2016 Report Posted August 15, 2016 To this very day, when I'm at a troop, I catch myself in my TK, gawking at all of the awesome costumes around me on a very regular basis. Then it's "oh... Yeah, me too!" Here's to hoping that your inner child is always excited by it! Great shares!! 1 Quote

Strength Posted August 30, 2016 Author Report Posted August 30, 2016 (edited) Texas Rangers Star Wars Weekend, take 2. There are more images floating around, but these are the ones I could find. I ended up having some velcro get loose and decided to go ahead and handle my fellow brothers and sisters. I did make a guarantee that the Rangers are going, and they came through. Far left: Handling, far right: Center...I think: Half the Sunday group Trooper 31201 | Star Garrison | North Texas Squad Edited August 30, 2016 by Strength Quote
