bowski477 Posted July 30, 2016 Author Report Posted July 30, 2016 I feel like I can never get the edges of my pieces straight enough to meet. Is there a secret to this? I'm so paranoid that when I start to put them together it will come out crappy. Quote
sylverbard[TK] Posted July 31, 2016 Report Posted July 31, 2016 That's what cover strips are for. 1 Quote
bowski477 Posted July 31, 2016 Author Report Posted July 31, 2016 Ok cool. For some reason I felt like they had to be perfect. Could just be me lol Quote
bowski477 Posted August 6, 2016 Author Report Posted August 6, 2016 While I wait for the glue on my biceps to dry I took a stab at some of my helmet Quote
bowski477 Posted August 7, 2016 Author Report Posted August 7, 2016 Dremel slipped. I'm new to using one and it got away from me. Any hope in covering this up? Quote
lucnak[TK] Posted August 8, 2016 Report Posted August 8, 2016 ABS sludge. You'll then need to sand and polish. I would suggest waiting till you're done using the dremel. You may need to use it in other spots as well...I know I still do! My slip ups are not in the most noticeable spots though. 1 Quote
bowski477 Posted August 8, 2016 Author Report Posted August 8, 2016 When I did it, I put the dremel away. It's not noticeable unless you get really close up (like the pic) but yea I was pretty bummed I did it. I hope I can fix it and not make it worse. Quote

I hope I can fix it and not make it worse.I had the same kind of issue near one of my ears and was really anxious about making, and then using abs paste. But, I knew I had to give it a go. Once I applied it I knew there was no going back. I left the paste to set for a day or so, sanded down and then buffed it up using a nail polishing block. I am so pleased with the result. bowski477 Posted August 8, 2016 Author Report Posted August 8, 2016 That makes me feel a lot better about it. Once I finish cleaning up my helmet that's what I'll do. Quote
Troopacoola[TK] Posted August 8, 2016 Report Posted August 8, 2016 Heres a shot of the area I had to repair. This was not a scuff it was a clean hole I haf drilled as I had fitted the ears on backwards! Sent from my SM-T210 using Tapatalk Quote
bowski477 Posted August 8, 2016 Author Report Posted August 8, 2016 Oh wow!! You can't even tell!! I feel wayyyy better about it now. There is hope! 1 Quote
bowski477 Posted August 11, 2016 Author Report Posted August 11, 2016 I left the biceps clamped for a couple days. I think they look okay. 3 Quote
bowski477 Posted August 13, 2016 Author Report Posted August 13, 2016 today this is happening on one side of one bicep. I used plenty of e6000 but it's pulling apart. Quote
Troopacoola[TK] Posted August 13, 2016 Report Posted August 13, 2016 today this is happening on one side of one bicep. I used plenty of e6000 but it's pulling apart. So its slowly pulled apart since removing the clamps?how well did it fit together? I mean did it marry up easily enough or did it require some tension to line tha side up? First up, if your happy with the other side, I'd redo the side thats pulling away, and see if that remedies it. Marc Sent from my SM-T210 using Tapatalk Quote
bowski477 Posted August 13, 2016 Author Report Posted August 13, 2016 That was the only side that required some tension. The rest all went perfectly. I'll see if a re-do helps. Should I try a stronger adhesive? Quote

Should I try a stronger adhesive?Id give it another go with the 6000 as if you use another glue, you may not be able to get it apart if you need to redo it. If you've not already done so ensure you rough up with some sand paper the areas you will be glueing. Where did you get your 6000 from as I know there are some fake ones online. Dont worry we will sort it! Worst case scenario would mean a hot water bath in order to shape the required part. 1 Quote
Troopacoola[TK] Posted August 13, 2016 Report Posted August 13, 2016 Forgot to mention putting an internal cover strip in if you've not already done so, for additional support. 1 Quote
bowski477 Posted August 13, 2016 Author Report Posted August 13, 2016 I got the E6000 from a local hobby shop to be sure it wouldn't be fake kind. Thanks for suggestions 1 Quote
bowski477 Posted August 13, 2016 Author Report Posted August 13, 2016 I'm going to fix up that bicep tomorrow. Today I filed my teeth and took a rough look at how my helmet would come together. I'm not sure how well the sides look together. Quote
Troopacoola[TK] Posted August 14, 2016 Report Posted August 14, 2016 Looking good, the sides will be fine once they're bolted/riveted. Sent from my SM-T210 using Tapatalk 1 Quote
Addertime[TK] Posted August 14, 2016 Report Posted August 14, 2016 (edited) My bucket still looked pretty unsightly even after the rivets but the ears cover the seams (and the sins). Don't worry, that's how they look. Edited August 14, 2016 by Addertime 3 Quote
bowski477 Posted August 14, 2016 Author Report Posted August 14, 2016 Thanks guys! I re glued my bicep today. I think I will go with adding an internal cover strip for the extra support. Quote
lucnak[TK] Posted August 16, 2016 Report Posted August 16, 2016 Yes, I would second that internal strip recommmendation. Helps everything feel a little more sturdy! 1 Quote
bowski477 Posted August 16, 2016 Author Report Posted August 16, 2016 I actually just came upstairs from clamping on the internal strip for that trouble bicep. The re-glue job seemed to hold better and the internal strip should make it even better. Internal strips FTW! 1 Quote
