bowski477 Posted September 25, 2016 Author Report Posted September 25, 2016 I want to fit the lenses before I put the helmet together again. What is the best way to give them that curve. Heat gun? Quote

CptCasey[TK] Posted September 27, 2016 Report Posted September 27, 2016 I just finished doing the lenses on mine. I cut my lenses in 5 inch sections (To fit my mounting posts). I then used a heat gun on low setting while bending them further than i wanted them to be. Got them fairly warm, then ran them over cold water while still holding them with an exaggerated bend. Repeat a couple of time until you get the curve you need. It doesn't take much of a curve to make them fit. I then trimmed them up so I didn't have a lot of excess material to possible rub my nose or something. The lenses supplied are nice and thick but take a little work to get a curve in them. 1 Quote

Cricket[TK] Posted October 2, 2016 Report Posted October 2, 2016 Do many people disconnect the cod from the abdomen and use strapping? I saw it in Pandatrooper's old build thread. If I don't do that I might need to trim the top of the abdomen. Hey Jill, I trimmed a bit off the top of my ab (and have since rebuilt the return on it), but I also cut the cod to fit my 5'4" height. In case you haven't made the leap yet, here's what I did. Very happy with how things fit now! Quote
bowski477 Posted October 2, 2016 Author Report Posted October 2, 2016 Thank you so much for linking me to that Cricket. I had put it aside to think about. Your thread is wicked helpful!! I think I'm going to try to replicate what you did. I think I'll be able to get away with just trimming and reattaching the cod. I was just nervous on making the leap lol Quote
bowski477 Posted October 8, 2016 Author Report Posted October 8, 2016 I was so afraid to do this but I made the leap and started. Using Cricket's build thread for support. I also sliced the cod. Here's the start. My ABS paste is still simmering. I'll post the results of the reattachment. 1 Quote
Cricket[TK] Posted October 8, 2016 Report Posted October 8, 2016 Way to slice, Jill!!!! Looks great so far. Can't wait to see how yours turns out! 1 Quote

DaygoErm[TK] Posted October 25, 2016 Report Posted October 25, 2016 Great job so far! I too am in the process of beginning my MTK build. Watching yours, very good techniques. Thanks for all the input. 1 Quote
bowski477 Posted November 13, 2016 Author Report Posted November 13, 2016 I've been busy lately so my build has been on a back burner. Luckily I'm not in a rush. However I curved my lenses, glued in some Chicago screws, and set the lenses in. I ended up using modeling clay for the bottom screw on each lens. I molded the clay around the screw and then set it in place. Then let the clay air dry overnight and glue the clay into place. 1 Quote

bowski477 Posted November 19, 2016 Author Report Posted November 19, 2016 I did my forearms once and didn't like how they fit. So I trimmed a little more and gave them a bath before I try again. Quote
bowski477 Posted December 4, 2016 Author Report Posted December 4, 2016 I spent and hour on my ears today. The fit for the most part from my first attempt. But they needed a little adjusting. (ignore the paint job, I'm still touching it up) Quote
Cricket[TK] Posted January 5, 2017 Report Posted January 5, 2017 Hey Jill, you still out there? Haven't seen an update from you in a while. Hope things are okay! Quote
