humperdingle Posted December 13, 2016 Author Report Posted December 13, 2016 (edited) Had a couple of 'Non-501st' troops recently, collecting for a local childrens' hospice - CHAS - (for kids with life-threatening or limiting conditions). First up is a group pic - an eclectic mix of myself, some Rebel Legion (unofficial) and guys from a local not-for-profit convention. Then, we visited one of CHAS' hospices, just up the road from me, to spend some time with the kids and their families... And a completely selfish shot of me, with twinkly lights because I love it Photo credits: Mark Harwood. Edited December 13, 2016 by humperdingle 3 Quote

humperdingle Posted December 19, 2016 Author Report Posted December 19, 2016 Sorry, mixed text up with photos, but you'll get the idea... OK, here are some pics of my recent outing to Dunfermline Odeon's Rogue One screenings. I have to say, I trooped in an unofficial (non-501st) capacity for the midnight showing on Wednesday, then for a couple of hours on the Friday evening, followed by an official UKG troop with a second TK (Mark Duffy) and our spotter, Alisdair Gilbert. The Odeon's management and staff were just wonderful throughout the whole thing and are a real credit to the company. So, that out of the way, a little background... The Wednesday night premiere was a very steady stream of customers from pretty much 10:30, when I arrived, through to 12:15am, when I de-kitted and enjoyed a much-appreciated free premier seat and hotdog During that couple of hours, though, I had been warned that a certain little blonde girl - maybe about 8 years of age - had appeared in full (rather impressive) Vader costume - At the midnight showing of TFA, and that she may show again. We weren't disappointed. My spotter saw her glowing lightsaber appear at the front doors. Alerting me, he ushered me to the foyer, where I stood to attention and welcomed the diminutive figure, dressed head-to-toe in black We spent a good while getting photos taken, chatting to her parents etc, as she strutted around. Turned out, she enjoyed herself so much, she wanted to make another appearance on the Saturday. And she did. She's Vader, she can do as she pleases What a wee star! Myself and the other TK were marching around the complex, escorting her, loads of customers got their photos taken with the three of us and she put many, many smiles on faces The manager even asked her if she'd like to walk in front of a couple of the screens, as the trailers were playing. Of course, she was up for that. With the helmet off, hardly a word was spoken by the shy little girl, but her grin from ear to ear said it all. We were all grinning. What a fabulous troop Some pics: (I'm the unbranded trooper, after my EIB application) 1 Quote

humperdingle Posted January 15, 2017 Author Report Posted January 15, 2017 Another unofficial troop, raising money for CHAS again... Absolutely heaving shopping centre but we had loads of characters to go round. Photo credits: Mark Harwood. 1 Quote

Do you meet up at any time outside of trooping? I live in Hamilton. Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk What day did you go? I was only there Sunday. I did see one of our spotters having a chat with someone, looked like it might have been about armour... maybe you? The decision was taken not to have a table for this one, as it ties-up resources. Bigger cons, with more 501st attendees tend to have a table, although this con is only in its 2nd year and apparently has almost doubled in attendance! Not many social occasions, unfortunately, but maybe if you post up something on the UKG, you might get someone close to you geographically? There are a fair few of the guys from the west coast. Failing that, i'm always happy to talk to folks! (Fife) Quote

Lol. He was a random. Will get a post up and catch up with one of your guys locally. Much appreciated. Was looking out for your shock trooper but never saw it. Gutted. What armour make did you get? It was a good build that. I got CFO armour. It's good but had to shim the calves. Lenses kept popping out but solved this last week. Just got the holster to attach. Bought a dlt 19 last year but not that accurate. Might just out for a CFO E11. Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk Quote

humperdingle Posted February 23, 2017 Author Report Posted February 23, 2017 Ok, so it was the Edinburgh Capital Sci-Fi Con at the weekend... An entirely not-for-profit convention, with all proceeds going to a local charity for childrens' care hospices - CHAS. My little pal, Emma, AKA Short Vader, AKA Short Trooper (A battle buddy toy myself and her mum converted) had a great time. The 501st Imperial Scottish Squad assisted, and escorted her through the halls, to get her helmet signed by Rogue One Vader, Spencer Wilding. What a nice guy he is! Obviously, I'm just checking to make sure he's doing it properly... Slaying her poor mother... And in her FO trooper guise... And a couple of random shots... 2 Quote
