I went with a 2nd belt set up for my HWT so I didn't have to worry about that stuff.

Did you duplicate what you had for the TK or just use the other pieces?

Not sure I understand your question. I have 1 belt (plastic and canvas) with holster and drop boxes. Then I have a second belt (plastic and canvas) with just an MP40 pouch on it.

I'm asking about the 2 different belts and square cover styles in my picture.

Did you use those two different sets to make your two belts or did you purchase a duplicate plastic belt and squares?

Obviously each belt would have its own canvas belt.

For example:

Belt 1 for TK: plastic belt with the small dimples and the squares with the larger diameter and the holster and drop boxes. The belt on the right in the first picture with the button on the top in the second picture.

Belt 2 for HWT: the belt on the left (with recessed square area) with the lower square covers (with smaller circle) and then add the pouch.

It would be nice not to have to try and purchase an additional plastic belt and squares.

I'll order the canvas belt today.

So you just remove the plastic part each time and switch between canvas belts?

I got 2 full sets. 2 plastic belts with square covers, and 2 canvas belts. Just to make it easy to go between the 2 set ups.

Yes! I intend to do most as HWT but want to have my regular TK available as well :)

I just got approval from my Garrison leader; I can use the belt on the left for HWT, and the one on the right for TK.  I just need to purchase two canvas belts; one of them will have the holster attached (TK), the other will not (HWT).

Thanks for all the help guys.  Hopefully this will be useful to someone else in the future. (yet another case of unclear or lacking specifications on little tiny details).

Just to close the loop on attaching the MP40 pouches: I ended up making some Velcro straps as shown. Thanks for all the help.

Ok, so I did a fit trial today.  I think I'm ready for approval submission.

I noticed the belt pouch little velcro corner wasn't secured; I'll have to take a look at that.  Either my wife didn't stick it or it came off.  I also need to have her learn to align things right when she puts them on (shoulder bells in this case).  Good think everything is velcro.

Please let me know if you guys notice anything that I need to fix. Thanks.

Your right bicep needs to be twisted 90 degrees towards your body.

Also what you should do is make some bicep hooks and put a piece of elastic in your shoulder bells to keep them from moving around.

Other than that I don't think you should have a problem.

Looks good Shea! I noticed that it looks like your wipe bottle is leaning to the left and the water bottle looks like its leaning also. Your TK photos look good. Hope to see you add the last details to aim for EIB. Your almost there might as well go big! Again looking good trooper!

Found your build thread here on FISD and was able to meet you in person over the weekend at Bash. This is a great thread! I think I will be referencing this soon, and perhaps start on my HWT journey :) Great work Trooper!

I got your PM and will send links for the pieces as requested.

The longest lead time item is the MP40 pouches. Order them on eBay and then get some fabric spray from Micheals.

UKswrath is usually the gold standard that people follow. He has some of the links too.

Here's my grocery list for the pack.

I hope it helps.

-------------------

Pauldron

Others have said this is the definitive place to get them.  I don’t have experience with others, but this one is fantastic quality.  $90.

Jay Parsons

Gun is a Hyperfirm.  The ONLY way to go.  I ordered a DLT-19 and an E-11 at the same time.  $400

https://www.facebook.com/HFx-Productions-1669859386576227/

Tony’s build

Oil pan: (select any year and model, then search on 616)

http://www.bavauto.com/shop.asp

I like the more industrial look of this one on the sides.  Others have opted for skinnier ones.

MP40 pouches.

You’ll need to dye them black.  I used fabric spray paint from Michaels, but others have used the liquid dye.

You need both the pouches, so order a pair where one of them has the little pocket on the lower right side

Popit! Stackit! Plastic boxes

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00IOSF14A/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I’m pretty sure this is the ABS I used (0.028” thick)

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004XR9WC8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

(I used this for the face on some of the boxes on the top)

Radio was a box LIKE this for a couple of bucks at Michaels

https://www.amazon.com/Darice-2-Inch-11-Inch-Storage-Covering/dp/B0055CVAIO/ref=sr_1_1?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1470674002&sr=1-1&keywords=cardboard+photo+box

Armor All bottle (the 20 or 25 count size- not the 50) like this (just an example of the size):

https://www.amazon.com/Armor-All-10945-Ultra-Shine/dp/B000QSBFLY/ref=sr_1_8?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1470673593&sr=1-8&keywords=armor+all+wipes

I used some of the 0.028 ABS sheet to make the black piece down it

For the vents, I used this channel, and a sheet of black textured ABS.  I wanted the vents to be more 3 dimensional than just laying them on top of each other

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0000WS8Q6/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

For the frames around the radio and box face, I just used a sticky tile linoleum type of tile from Lowes.

The cup was from 5 below (buy a $1 one, not the $5)

Pipe was a 24” pipe (pre-cut) from Home Depot and couples cut in half.

Allan had an extra shoulder strap that I used for the white thing on the pipe.

2 milk jug caps

1 soda cap (for the top of the black/gray cup)

I used some 1” wide webbing and clips from Strapworks, but others have bought backpack straps of various kinds.

http://www.strapworks.com/Side_Release_Buckles_p/srbda.htm

Antenna

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008ZZV72M/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

(there are several options, but just watch the height; you don’t want a really long one)

I bought this one too, but like the other one better.  Just do a search on “fake antenna” on Amazon

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00AWYBD5A/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Black little squares are like this, although I thought they were ½” not ¾”.  Home Depot has them

http://www.homedepot.com/p/Everbilt-3-4-in-Self-Adhesive-Vinyl-Surface-Bumpers-12-per-Pack-49565/203661091

I attached everything with #8 sheet metal screws and #8 fender washers (to help prevent pulling out of the plastic)

Shae, thanks again for this. What was the paint type/colors you used to paint the boxes/cups on the pack?

Posted

I just used a flat black and the gray is just primer. I forget the brand but just look for the ones that are compatible with plastic at Home Depot or Lowe's.

Tired of my pack getting excessively dusty in the garage, I made this.

It even has a black liner. I'd never done that before.
