Maxl[TK] Posted July 26, 2016 Author Report Posted July 26, 2016 Oh, thank you. I didn't know anything about a belt under the armor which hold the thighs in place.

And thank you for the tip of taping the strapping in place first.

I think it should be mentioned in the CRL's that the thighs are secured with a belt under the armor. troopermaster Posted July 26, 2016 Report Posted July 26, 2016 Having a belt under the armour holding the thighs up is not only screen accurate, but makes wearing the armour so much better. If the thighs are attached to the abdomen, they have a tendency to pull the torso down. Having the thighs free from the torso is the way to go 1 Quote
Maxl[TK] Posted July 26, 2016 Author Report Posted July 26, 2016 Nice ;-) Thanks Ā sent from Deathstar Quote
scott.lindsay.5209 Posted July 26, 2016 Report Posted July 26, 2016 Agreed belt is a must have. Ā Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk Quote

Maxl[TK] Posted July 26, 2016 Author Report Posted July 26, 2016 How can I remove the rivets of the ammo stripe of the right thigh? Does anybody have an idea? Quote
humperdingle Posted July 26, 2016 Report Posted July 26, 2016 I used a wider diameter HSS drill bit than the rivet. This effectively drills or grinds the top of the rivet. Pretty soon, it detaches and you're left with what looks like a tiny washer and the rear section just pops out. Quote
Maxl[TK] Posted July 26, 2016 Author Report Posted July 26, 2016 Cool! And that works easy? Ā sent from Deathstar Quote
Maxl[TK] Posted July 26, 2016 Author Report Posted July 26, 2016 (edited) Today something arrived Ā Thank you very much Paul for the new ammo!!! I still trimmed the new "ammo stripe", but I just can drill out the rivets tomorrow. Then should be the right thigh movie accurate as well. The "strapping chest to back" is also glued. I hope it will fit Here I meassured the distances and fixed it with the tape:... and then .... glued. Looks good so far I think.Thermal Detonator is ready too and becomes a bit "softer"Tomorrow I'll get it on with the shoulder bells. Paul, how is the holster fixed? I see on the CRL's that it is riveted on the belt. Is that correct and movie accurate? Greets, Markus Edited July 26, 2016 by Maxl Quote
humperdingle Posted July 27, 2016 Report Posted July 27, 2016 Cool! And that works easy? sent from Deathstar Yep. If you use a smaller bit, it just gets stuck in the rivet and the whole thing spins. Use a decent, sharp bit, though. Quote
troopermaster Posted July 27, 2016 Report Posted July 27, 2016 Rivet the holster to the belt. The rivets are placed in the middle of the belt. Quote
Maxl[TK] Posted July 27, 2016 Author Report Posted July 27, 2016 (edited) The rivets are removed now:I used a 4mm drill (for metal)After that I put the new ammo stripe in place and fixed it with clamps:I know I have to round out the bottom corner of the stripes, but is that the right position, Paul? ivantam303[TK] Posted July 27, 2016 Report Posted July 27, 2016 (edited) I made the same mistake as well and corrected it now!! Looks okay to me! Edited July 27, 2016 by ivantam303 Quote
Maxl[TK] Posted July 27, 2016 Author Report Posted July 27, 2016 Strapping of the shoulderbells is already glued.A little test fitting is not wrong:The armor does fit the doll very well Quote
troopermaster Posted July 27, 2016 Report Posted July 27, 2016 The ends of the ammo strap are good but I would move the middle higher. 1 Quote
Maxl[TK] Posted July 28, 2016 Author Report Posted July 28, 2016 Ok. Thank you. Is this the right position and can I rivet it this way? Ā sent from Deathstar Quote
Maxl[TK] Posted July 29, 2016 Author Report Posted July 29, 2016 Here are the shoulder bells:...and I fitted it, but I don't have any photos of me wearing the shoulder bells. BUT there is something similar: The right thigh is ready now (except the strapping to the (underwear-)belt. One after another: First I positioned the ammo stripe correctly and fixed it with my clamps. After that I marked it and drilled a hole (DM 4,0mm) and put the rivet in it - ready!Ā Quote
troopermaster Posted July 30, 2016 Report Posted July 30, 2016 Don't forget the middle rivet. Not sure if it's specified in the CRL but ROTJ armour has three rivets holding the ammo strap in place. Choose either the red or blue spot - wherever you can get a good fix 1 Quote
Maxl[TK] Posted July 30, 2016 Author Report Posted July 30, 2016 Yes, I havn't forget it ;-) I have too few rivets so I have to buy some today. It is not listed in the CRL's to use 2 or 3. Ā Shall I paint the rivets white? If so, what color-"number" has the white? Ā sent from Deathstar Quote
troopermaster Posted July 30, 2016 Report Posted July 30, 2016 I use Humbrol #22 white gloss but any white paint will do. Quote
Maxl[TK] Posted July 31, 2016 Author Report Posted July 31, 2016 (edited) Ah, ok. Thank you Ā First I present my newest progress: Next step: "drop boxes"I marked the sides and the upside to could not change the pieces:meassurement to belt: exakt 1cm (proof follows downwards )proof - 1cm!!! left box:proof :and I didn't forget the rubber washer:Next part of my operation: test fitting and making selfies . It is very difficult to do this allone I shot countless photos, but only a few are "good enough" to show here in this threat my goodness, I look stupid, but here you can see the shoulder bells. What do you think about the position? Is it ok? (there is still no strapping around the upper arm) Edited July 31, 2016 by Maxl Quote
troopermaster Posted July 31, 2016 Report Posted July 31, 2016 Your shoulder bells look fine. Remember to keep those forearms up tight against your biceps. 1 Quote
Maxl[TK] Posted July 31, 2016 Author Report Posted July 31, 2016 (edited) Thank you Are they too low? Edited July 31, 2016 by Maxl Quote
troopermaster Posted July 31, 2016 Report Posted July 31, 2016 Yes, way too low. When they are properly strapped you will probably have a big gap at your wrist. This is perfectly normal. Stormtroopers are always armed so when you have your blaster in your hands, the gaps disappear. Quote
