So today I was able to "work" from home which gave me some time to work on the boxes.

I started with the big radio box. I cut the outlines on the box out of plastruct. Once the glue dries I will use some bondo and fill in the lines where the pieces meet

Next I started the top left "button" box. Started with some rubber furniture feet, I primed and painted them flat black.

After that I cut out the underlying greeblie from plastruct and painted it with the silver fox gray.

I then primed the box so I can later paint it black.

After that I moved onto the box to the right if the radio box. I decided to slant it like the reference pictures. If I knew what a pain in the an impolite person it was going to be I would have just left it flat. I started by cutting the bottom and top of the box to match. But there was no way I was going to be able to make it perfectly match up. So I knew I would have to use bondo on the sides to make it look like 1 piece.

But before doing that I needed to make sure I would be able to attach it to the pack later. So I drilled holes in the bottom and glued some bolts into it. I also drilled the corresponding holes in the pack. Lastly I started the greeblie for the box but ran out of time.

Looking good so far! Can I suggest that you give a little more width to your arch columns and make the arch a complete half circle. Oh,and it wouldn't hurt to put nuts on those bolts. Just incase glue lets go bolt don't fall inside and your stuck with a rattle. Just suggesting.

Plus those buttons look a little small.

Thanks. I agree with the arches, I will make them more of a half circle. I also threw some nuts on those bolts just in case, thanks for looking out.

Looking at this reference picture the buttons don't appear that big:

Another update here.

Hit up the dollar store to get some more supplies and did some more work on the boxes.

The put some bondo in the seams on the radio box, sanded and primed it.

Created the "vents" for the vent box.

Did some more bondo work on the lower right angled box. Much happier with it now.

Also got a clorox wipes container for the middle cylinder. Here is the cylinder, bottom part of cone, and vents drying from the silver fox paint.

Finished up the "button" box.

Also picked up some measuring cups for the circles on the radio box. What do you think of the size? Do they stick out too much?

Packs looking great so far..

:duim: Looking good

Thanks guys. Small update, work has been kicking my butt this week.

Made some more progress on the radio box. Primed it and then painted it black. Also made holes in the circles on the box for the LEDs and painted them.

Glued the vents onto the vent box. I am going to add a small "box" around the vents to make it look a little nicer.

Cut the side tube top/bottom to size. Didn't want the tube to be open so I added a plastruct top. Cut the tops to size and added a little bondo to fill in the seams and sanded it down.

What exactly are you using for the bondo?

This is the bondo I have been using.

Yeah I was either going to make another set without the light or come up with a cover for the lights. Still figuring it out.

I have Tony's audio system, and I LOVE it!  I built it into my pack, but had to make a few modifications.  If you need any advice on how I did this, just PM me.

Awesome stuff about the audio!

Was able to grab a few minutes today and finished the top of the vent box.

Could you elaborate more on the vents please.

It looks like you glued them with temporary spacers to angle them, correct?

How did you do that border around there?

I was looking at using a dryer vent but they are square. Yours gives the perfect look.

Thanks

Thanks! Of course I forgot to take pictures of how they were angled.

Here is a rough sketch:

38e92ba7327af71a8711fd127ad7682d.jpg

So what I did was glue an additional piece of plastruct to the bottom of each vent. I then put glue on the two spots that would contact the box. The round things in the pictures weren't spacers, they were magnets holding the vents in place while the glue dried. The outside of the vents is also just plastruct cut to size to kind of make it look like it was in its own little box and so you can't see the underside of the vents and see the pieces giving the pieces giving the vents an angle.
