Starfox2010 Posted May 25, 2016 Author Report Posted May 25, 2016 Followed through with the thighs. I'm not going to show the inside. I made some decisions I regret but think I should be fine lol. I still need to smooth the edges out, before I glue. Right Side (out) Is it normal to have one side a little longer? I hope so... Inside (Will be left unglued and to be velcro'd). Outer Left Inner Left (i'm not liking the trim but the way some of the pieces were pulled I couldnt really see the markings to cut. thats my excuse and im sticking to it lol). Suggestions, go for it's? 1 Quote
Tai Posted May 25, 2016 Report Posted May 25, 2016 (edited) Right Side (out) Is it normal to have one side a little longer? I hope so... Mine looks the same at this point, maybe 2mm shorter. I guess, it needs bondo / filler to fix this or leave it just the way it is. Or better sanded out, I think, I will do that. Edited May 25, 2016 by Tai Quote
ukswrath[Staff] Posted May 25, 2016 Report Posted May 25, 2016 Mine looks the same at this point, maybe 2mm shorter. I guess, it needs bondo / filler to fix this or leave it just the way it is. I personally would sand and/or trim the two sides as even a possible. The seam is a requirement, not to mention this is a high flex area so using any bondo/filler would surely crack over time, as will the paint that covers it. If you don't like the sanding idea you can always use plastic welder or ABS paste to build it up then reshape it, or as Christian mentioned, leave it. Quote
Starfox2010 Posted May 25, 2016 Author Report Posted May 25, 2016 What do you guys think? did some adjustments by trimming and heat bending a little. also sanded to even out the seams a bit. Before and after 1 Quote
ukswrath[Staff] Posted May 25, 2016 Report Posted May 25, 2016 Yep, maybe round that tiny point a bit under your thumb 1 Quote
Starfox2010 Posted May 31, 2016 Author Report Posted May 31, 2016 Long weekend but was able to get some gluing done. Thighs Ankles and Biceps I have to heat bend the bottom of the ankles a bit, they don't aling right, however I'm going to wait since you're not really going to see them with the ankle covers. Biceps I'm also going to try and make the biceps accurate by redoing the triangles on the front sides of the biceps 1 Quote
Haribon72[TK] Posted June 1, 2016 Report Posted June 1, 2016 dude... did you finish the abs boxes yet? Quote
Starfox2010 Posted June 1, 2016 Author Report Posted June 1, 2016 dude... did you finish the abs boxes yet? waiting for you to do it first lol. Working on them, I have 2 more. I wanted to make sure they were perfect with no gaps, but after seeing the anovos display one, I think i'm ok. 1 Quote
Starfox2010 Posted June 30, 2016 Author Report Posted June 30, 2016 Been a while, summer time is no joke, can't get much done with family things going on. Here is what I had so far. installed the chest piece backside. still have to sand down a bit. AB piece. Left Side Right Back Ok heres where im at at the moment. Should I keep trimming some more? Im planning to do 1 piece at a time. the pics show all 3 pieces connected by magnets and clamps. Also, should I remove the extra trim from the center piece to match the front and back piece? Thanks for looking 2 Quote
Starfox2010 Posted July 4, 2016 Author Report Posted July 4, 2016 Was able to use the belt sander last weekend to level out some pieces to the forearms. Worked on that today. the top lid isn't glued on yet, just getting a feel for it, need to clean it up a bit more. The tape at the wrist side is where i'm planning to stop when gluing. 1 Quote
ukswrath[Staff] Posted July 4, 2016 Report Posted July 4, 2016 Looking great. Sorry about above I was following Walters also lol 1 Quote
R2Dan[TK] Posted July 4, 2016 Report Posted July 4, 2016 A little input on the chest mod defining those side lines: They are nowhere near as deep on the original chests, nor does the line continue on the return edge. Just thought I'd point it out 3 Quote
Starfox2010 Posted July 4, 2016 Author Report Posted July 4, 2016 Looking great. Sorry about above I was following Walters also lol No worries, I'm back and fourth between his and my thread as well, lol. A little input on the chest mod defining those side lines: They are nowhere near as deep on the original chests, nor does the line continue on the return edge. Just thought I'd point it out Thanks, I'll do more research on it, I'll figure out if I should use Devcom and level the lines to avoid cracking later. 1 Quote
Starfox2010 Posted July 25, 2016 Author Report Posted July 25, 2016 Summer's been crazy and we just got a new puppy so i've been a little tied up. So i've been hiding in the bathroom working on my armor (Walter) Sorry for large images, Photobucket's not working with me right now. Finished the boxes but waiting on gluing then and the top of the forearms untill I get a few pieces to glue all together. Here you can see my cover strip alont with the top measurement Also not quite content with the yoke attachment Right side looks good (of back) Left side not so good (of back) trying to heat bend it little by little. Top view looks good, however you can see how it pops out on the right side of the pic (back left) 1 Quote
Starfox2010 Posted July 26, 2016 Author Report Posted July 26, 2016 So.....I just did it. The forearms got the top put on and glued up to 2/3 of the way, one side of each bicep got the cover strip glued and the yoke got glued. The next session should be the back piece along with the closing of the biceps and adding the ribbed pieces to the v notch. I'm going to also get started on the ab boxes. 1 Quote

Starfox2010 Posted July 28, 2016 Author Report Posted July 28, 2016 How does this look? Tried to do it like Tony's (not glued yet). Any opinions? 1 Quote
ukswrath[Staff] Posted July 28, 2016 Report Posted July 28, 2016 Something I learned after I built mine is the 3rd (lower) layer is actually the inner cover strip you're using to connect the two.sidea. The movie armor is actually 3d print so in reality there is no inner cover strip but the point is the upper layer is actually 1 step lower then the outer layer of the armor itself. ukswrath[Staff] Posted July 28, 2016 Report Posted July 28, 2016 With the new info i'd acquired after the fact, I ended up sanding down the upper layer (prior to paint prep) so that the upper step either sat flush or just below the armor layer. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using Tapatalk 1 Quote
