The hand guards look great as do the shins!

Thank you!! The hand guards were easier than expected. Just took patience and did little by little so I'd have no drips. The shins will be looking much better with way less gap too. I tried one out this morning before work and the tabs work great!

I'm working on a pipe build while I save up for a hyper firm myself. As for the fans I can show you a quick way to do a USB and 5 volt fan set up that'll get you about 2 1/2 hrs of run time. It's super easy. I even have a few extra 5v blower fans I ordered by accident.

Very nice! I'd love to get that info!

Looking good. You might need some foam in the shin to help them from drifting. I didn't have a tool for the rivets for the ammo pack. Split rivet, right? I just used a flat head screw driver and placed it in there to start the bend, banged on them directly to continue the bend, and then used a socket (I think that's the right term) to finish the bending. (it's the shape of a cylinder and is hollow, so I just found one that was the right size).

The ones I'm using are from a guy on FISD that sells these Centurion level rivet sets. These are double cap rivets and require a different setter than I have. If I can't find one then I may just use split rivers and replace later if I find the right setter.

I'm still rolling around the foam idea. I feel like these move well enough to not use them, but I haven't decided for sure. Still may get some just incase though.

From Joseph? Maybe he changed what he's sending out. That's who I got mine from.

Foam is useful for prevent knee lock and such as well. I'm short enough that it's an issue so I used some in every leg price except my right shin!

That sounds right. I'll look when I get back to work and let you know for sure. I believe I put his name at the top of my thread under the list of tools I used. I'm pretty sure I updated it.

That's true. I'll know more I think once I get the knee plate on. I'll probably end up doing it though.

Oh yeah, I just checked his thread and he's changed it up. Ah well! Good luck finding the right setter!

I purchased my setter from Tandy. It uses the same anvil that you use for the snaps so you would only need the part you hammer. I forget how much I paid for it.

I looked online but didn't see anything on their site. I'll probably have to go in, but they close during the week before I can get there. Bummer. I guess that'll be the last thing I do then. I'll just get the rest done this week. Thanks!!

Looking at the package it's called a Rivet Setter. The part number is 8100-00

If I still lived in Houston I'd let you borrow it, sorry my friend.

They do close early too...

Very nice! Thanks!! I'll go look that up now! I didn't have any time at work to check on it today. Boo. Lol

No worries! I appreciate it though. I'll have to go up there Saturday.

Ok, here's an update:

I got the thighs completed, minus the ammo pack that will go on this weekend (When I can go to Tandy to get a setter for my double cap rivets). I think they look good. There's a little gap at the backs of the ridges, but I'm good with them. I've seen plenty pass with wider ones, and I MAY be removing the backs there for better movement anyway—plus I kind of like the way it looks. lol

Here are the new shins (seams). The outside of the shins is showing the inside view of the backs.

Aaaaand… I started this tonight. Apologies for the ugly thumb. I wore down a little epidermis while scraping off glue. lol

Here's the sniper knee attached to the left shin! So glad that's all over now. lol

The images below the knee plate are the inside of the shins. I'm adding small tabs for velcro latches at the tops and bottoms just for some extra stability to keep them lined up nice.

Dude! Most excellent job on the sniper knee, it's almost perfectly straight.

Thanks!! That feels good to hear! It really did; I totally lucked out. I was hoping it would stay in place and in the morning I was so happy to see that it almost didn't even shift or anything.

Awesome, thank you! I'm pretty happy with it all, so far. It's definitely been worth it. Thanks for sticking it out with me! It seems like it's taken so long. Lol

It's been fantastic to follow. Sharing ideas and seeing it go from a box of parts to a screen accurate costume is what it's all about. Then the fun really starts! The first time I heard someone in the crowd yell "I love Stormtroopers, they're my favorite!" I couldn't stop grinning behind my frown. The kids are the best, for them it's like you walked right out of the movie for real! My 16 year old son has to tell everyone his dad's a Stormtrooper. (I have 4 kids: 19, 16, 15, 11. Boy, boy, girl, girl, and they all think it's pretty cool.)

Makes me forget all the $ and time spent. In fact probably the single best return on my investment to this point as far as "stuff" goes!

Thank you! I've really enjoyed yours as well! As a matter of fact everyone's has been super helpful in their own way, for me! Right? I've enjoyed all the ideas and suggestions and help from everyone who has stopped by. I'm excited to get out there and make some smiles happen, myself. I bet it's awesome. That's a really good story. I'm looking forward to my first experience a lot more now. Yes! lol That's really cool about your kids too! They have a cool dad, that's for sure.

Do you plan on doing another build in the future?

Hey Rick..per your thighs are you using Pecap510's garter system? 'Per your thighs'...sounds like such an inappropriate question..haha...sorry. If you are using his system, how do you like it?

I'll be adding stirrups to the shins tonight and adding the velcro to the latches I made last night. I'll be going to Tandy to get the setter for the ammo pack on Saturday and then finishing off the build with that. I should be taking my submission photos on Sunday or within a few days of that.

Lolol Not inappropriate at all. Now, "purr your thighs" would be a different story. :P Yep, it's Pencap's! I like it a lot so far. I haven't done much walking around in it, so who knows later down the road, but so far it's solid.

Yeah I think I will eventually get a Pencap belt too. I just have a nylon belt and it pulls down a bit uncomfortably since I have to wear it so tight. However, that costs money that I don't currently have.
