Splinelock[TK] Posted April 7, 2016 Report Posted April 7, 2016 Hi all, So I'm 6'2 225 and well I'm taller than your typical trooper. I'm working on solutions and scoured the forums for a little bit trying to find an answer for my chest to ab plate. Intial test fits has the chest sliding up off the ab plate. I am using the original armor hook design so it won't slide up once its on, but I was wondering how some of the taller troopers are handling the shorter torso adding extensions and stuff. I can't find on the 501st site if even 1st level approval allows for separation of cod and ab though I know the movie did not have this. Also having a small beer gut means I can't get the ab and kid panels to rest flush. I'll probably have to have a little bit longer elastic to keep the pieces together for the rivets. Was wondering if this is the general route for your bigger built troopers out there. Thanks in advance for any advice. Quote
lucnak[TK] Posted April 7, 2016 Report Posted April 7, 2016 If your kidney and ab plates are not sitting flush together, you can add a shim using spare ABS to close the gap. If you look up TK 1636's videos on youtube, he does this for the trooper for whom he is building the armour in the videos. From what I can gather, you will have to wear your armour a bit lower and have longer elastic straps over your shoulder and have less of your shoulder bridges glued on your chest plate, but I haven't done the research to say that 100%. There are a number of people who are taller who have build threads. Reviewing those and some Centurion applications from taller troopers should help you. Quote
Splinelock[TK] Posted April 7, 2016 Author Report Posted April 7, 2016 Wow thanks for the Tk 1636 videos. These are going to be crucial for helping me finish my build. I've been following the recent forum post from Ukswrath but I'm a visual person so this amazing. I appreciate the quick turn around on reply too. Quote
DarkTrooper[TK] Posted April 7, 2016 Report Posted April 7, 2016 Has any taller troopers that have this problem ever simply cut the abdomen armor apart along where the belt piece would be and then add a horizontal shim in its place? An area of about three inches is covered completely by the belt anyways. That could be your extra inches you are looking for. As a shorter trooper, at 5'7", with my first FX kit that is the area that I cut off to modify that armor. Instead of shimming though I removed that portion. Quote
Splinelock[TK] Posted April 8, 2016 Author Report Posted April 8, 2016 I'm building the Anovos TK. Seemed like a solid armor to start with though I'm a bit disappointed how thin the abs gets in places. Quote
pandatrooper[TK] Posted April 8, 2016 Report Posted April 8, 2016 With your size and build, RT mod would have been more suitable as it was designed for bigger troopers.

You could separate the ab and cod but I wouldn't stretch it by 3 inches. That's a big gap and would change the proportions of the kit significantly. Quote

I'm not Centurion status, but here's a picture of mine. It does sit a little lower, but I think it looks fine. It's kind of tilted because my right arms is raised up, but you get the idea. I'm 6'6 and have AM 2.0 armor. Edited June 6, 2016 by Ksunole Quote
