Ph1l2007 Posted June 3, 2008 Report Posted June 3, 2008 Hi All, I am brand new to the whole Stormtrooper movement, and I wanted to know, what is up with the flat green lenses? I recently purchased a Master Replicas "Stunt" Stormtrooper helmet, and I always thought Stormtrooper eye lenses were black. So what is up with green? Is green unacceptable for 501st standards? If so, how can I change the lenses on an MR Stunt helmet (the lenses that come with it have foam glued to them). Thanks, Phil Quote
riveting Posted June 3, 2008 Report Posted June 3, 2008 Hi Phil, In the movie ANH, the Stunt (background) troopers lenses were a green single strip, their are a few guy's on the forum who can help you out with new two piece lenses that will fit your MR lid. If it's MRCE? Just remove the three retaining screw's per lense & install your new lenses & hey presto. There has been some discusion in the past on the acurate color of hero helmet lenses, I'm sure someone else might want to add thier thought's on that matter I'm just replying to your green question hope this helps Quote

Amish Trooper Posted June 3, 2008 Report Posted June 3, 2008 runnriott is going to do a run of lenses for the MRCE I have a tester pair of his and they are super nice. They are thick and dark unlike the cheap ones that come with the helmet. so drop him a line Quote
rogue4ngel Posted June 4, 2008 Report Posted June 4, 2008 I like the green lenses myself.. replaced my bubble lenses for a pair of green. The bubble have a nice look to them, and for the acurate hero, it seems the way to go. The problem that I've heard with the is visibility when trooping is not so great. Not that its great anyway, but worse with the bubble lenses. Quote
Runnriottt Posted June 4, 2008 Report Posted June 4, 2008 If you are looking for the movie accurate color, there lighter than the welders shield I use. I have been searching for a good replacement but a lighter color would not be suitable for flash photos. This is of coures a costume for me, not a display peice. Lenses darker in color are for costume reasons, I dont want my eyes exposed. Bubble lenses are cool, Its a matter of choise of helmet style. MRCE I am thinking keep the original lens, add the darker lens behind it to obtain a screen look and have your eyes hidden. I havent tried that yet. Hero are bubble, Stunt are flat. There are a few making lenses here, so it depands on what you want, thickness and color really. Grey or green. Are you displaying the lid or wearing it, all factors I think in choise. Really, you cant see that well to begin with. I look mostly through the frown and that is limited. I always have a handler when I go out. Quote
FIVE[501st] Posted June 4, 2008 Report Posted June 4, 2008 (edited) I also suggest you------------- While all those mods aren't necessary there are many that are needed to make it 501st ready. Edited February 16, 2021 by gmrhodes13 link not working, removed gmrhodes13 2021 Quote
