starsaber25[Admin] Posted March 13, 2016 Report Posted March 13, 2016 Hey Allan. You did a great job! Let's bring another EIB to ECG! 2 Quote
IceStormTK[TK] Posted March 14, 2016 Report Posted March 14, 2016 Good work, Allan. I can tell you've put a lot of time and love into your armor. You'll make EIB for sure! Three things you might want to look at if you're aiming for Centurion: if you shorten your snap straps on your left side, your ab and kidney pieces will close that little gap; you may want to sand down your left thigh's cover strip at the top; and change out the screws on the back of the thermal detonator. I'd be proud to troop with you! You look great. 1 Quote
allan1313[TK] Posted March 14, 2016 Author Report Posted March 14, 2016 Thanks for all the kind words everyone. Good work, Allan. Thanks and appreciate the feedback. I will hunt down some pan head screws. I have been thinking about cutting/sanding the top of that strip. My back plate isn't usually so lopsided. But I still think I need to shorten the straps a little. Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk 1 Quote
Target92[501st] Posted March 14, 2016 Report Posted March 14, 2016 Looks pretty good, the only things that I see is on the helmet the eyes need some TLC, and as was pointed out on my EIB thread the frown will need repainting. The thermal det is too long and needs to be painted. Also I am not sure how the staff will feel about the fact that you have three straps connecting your ab plate to your kidney plate on both your right and left sides. Quote
68Brick[TK] Posted March 14, 2016 Report Posted March 14, 2016 Yup, I noticed the eyes need a little more trimming and the TD screws should be pan head common screws. Sort those out and trim your shin cover strip (it's going to poke you) and your TK will be looking sharp. Good Work! 1 Quote
justjoseph63[Staff] Posted March 14, 2016 Report Posted March 14, 2016 Looking great, Allan! Like Roy mentioned, for Centurion you will need to narrow the gap on your ab/kidney connections, and perhaps your butt/kidney connection. It looks as if you used elastic for these, which will stretch, of course, but you can remedy this by replacing it with nylon. I also noticed that you have a "shift" in the side connections, which can also be practically eliminated if you use 2 inch nylon with double snaps, as in the photo. If you need some of the 2 inch wide black nylon for this, just let me know via PM, and I'll get it in the mail to ya'. Heck, I'll even throw in the snaps if you need them. 1 Quote
allan1313[TK] Posted March 14, 2016 Author Report Posted March 14, 2016 Thanks guys. Keep the feedback coming. I have a list of things I can improve. This is my first build and would love to reach Centurion. PM incoming justjoseph63. Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk 3 Quote
ukswrath[Staff] Posted March 15, 2016 Report Posted March 15, 2016 Hey Allan Sly or myself will be with your shortly 1 Quote
ukswrath[Staff] Posted March 17, 2016 Report Posted March 17, 2016 Hey Allan let's get to it shall we. Thank you for your patience and your EIB application CRL and EIB Application Requirements: All photos are present and your armor represents all necessary elements to qualify for EIB. With that we'd like to congratulate and welcome you to Expert Infantry! Great job on your build Other-Armor Fit/Assembly: In this section we will discuss observations made by your fellow troopers as well as ourselves. These may contain suggestions to improve the overall look of your armor. Alright we have a few areas that need some TLC, none of which will effect your EIB application. Centurion Suggestions: Starting with the top and working our way down. The return edge around the eyes. As mentioned by your fellow troopers we would like to see that trimmed down a bit. As for your frown we're requesting the lower corner be added. We didn't see any overspray in your pictures so repainting the entire frown won't be necessary at this time. Reference photo The back to kidney gap is a bit excessive. CRL states little to no gap. Your height and the Anovos armor will be in constant battle with each other due to the armor design. As you fellow troopers suggested tightening up the strapping between the two should help resolve this. Reference photo This goes for the kidney to posterior, Ab to kidney gap, as well as the right bicep to forearm. Reference photos Also mentioned by your troop mates trimming down thigh cover strip may help prevent severing an artery during a troop lol Another suggestion, given your height you can probably get away with dropping your thighs down a bit spacing out the gaps between armor sections. As for the Thermal Detonator. Though it's not an actual requirement at any level we do prefer to see pan head slotted screws, and painted black. The thermal detonator of the PVC tube is screen accurate. Some reading this will have seen my build thread where I painted mine. My build also states painting it is not a requirement but an option. Again, welcome to the EI ranks 1 Quote
Redforce[TK] Posted March 17, 2016 Report Posted March 17, 2016 Fantastic! Congratulations Allan! Great job man! Another EIB for the ECG! Quote
kman[TK] Posted March 17, 2016 Report Posted March 17, 2016 (edited) Nice job! I'm definitely going to borrow a few of your tricks, like the loop-side velcro on the back of the TD straps (to protect the armor), and the velcro on the back of the ammo belt (again, to protect the armor). Good to see another tall TK in Anovos going for EIB! Edited March 17, 2016 by kman Quote
allan1313[TK] Posted March 17, 2016 Author Report Posted March 17, 2016 Thanks Tony! Glad to make it to EIB. I will get to work on those fixes for centurion. I also did pick up a few of these yesterday: Also thanks to Red and Kman! It's been a long but fun journey so far, looking forward to taking it to the next level.
