So I am all proud of myself building my sight protector out of aluminum. Even filed down an area to have the green stuff meet so it wouldn't be raised but the green stuff turned into the green mess. I mixed it together then applied, and rolled my knurled finish tool over it, but some pulled off, and then started just looking like dooky. Any tips.

Hmmm, the only problem I ever have is the GS sticking to my fingers rather than the item. A bit of saliva or water on your finger (or the tool you're applying with) seems to rectify that.
