DayFire Posted February 28, 2016 Report Posted February 28, 2016 So I absolutely love the TKC and am starting my build finally after 8 months of reading and saving and waiting. I've got an ANOVOS kit and I know that it will have to be modified. I'm just wanting some feedback and to make sure I'm not missing anything. From what I remember the mods are: 5 ab button strip, inverted button plate, add the tubing edge on torso, and fuse kidney and butt plate together. I feel like I'm forgetting something though. Figured I would ask on here before I got too far into it. Still currently rough trimming my kit. Quote

mikedwelle94[TK] Posted February 29, 2016 Report Posted February 29, 2016 If you're going for Centurion, you should get a new ROTJ thermal detonator kit from either TM or CFO. The one you have should be good for basic and EIB. And I'm interested to see if the Anovos kit can be constructed with overlaps instead of cover strips, which is also a Centurion requirement. Quote
DayFire Posted March 2, 2016 Author Report Posted March 2, 2016 I have looked there and I'm not planning on going for centurion. Just trying to make sure I'm not missing anything big before I get started. Quote
DayFire Posted March 5, 2016 Author Report Posted March 5, 2016 I think I remembered what I was forgetting. The belt! I'll need to remove the holster from the belt. Quote

What's the difference in doing overlaps vs cover strips? Quote
DayFire Posted March 9, 2016 Author Report Posted March 9, 2016 Any tips on how to add a return edge back on my thighs after I've trimmed them? How much needs to be there? Quote
Elumusic[TK] Posted March 13, 2016 Report Posted March 13, 2016 I did the same thing with my build. Have not attempted to get Centurion, but I built it so I could. http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/32449-tk-commander-build-its-become-a-ocd-thing/ Quote
DayFire Posted March 14, 2016 Author Report Posted March 14, 2016 I still don't quite understand the method of doing overlaps? Any threads I should look at? I would really like to build this with Centurion in mind if possible. That's the only terminology I don't quite understand. Quote
DayFire Posted March 14, 2016 Author Report Posted March 14, 2016 (edited) Decided to go ahead and paint up my bucket. Edited March 14, 2016 by DayFire 1 Quote
DayFire Posted March 29, 2016 Author Report Posted March 29, 2016 Some updates. I got the trim added to all of my torso pieces and started masking off the areas on the arms for the stripes. I realized after I took these pictures that I did the stripes on the back instead of the front of the biceps so I will be fixing that tonight and adding more pictures. I wanted to double check the stripes before I painted them. Thanks again for the feedback! Quote
DayFire Posted March 31, 2016 Author Report Posted March 31, 2016 Some additional pictures showing the placement of the second bicep stripe and the finished glued on trim. 1 Quote
DayFire Posted May 12, 2016 Author Report Posted May 12, 2016 (edited) Ok it's been a while but I've gotten lots done. Started working on strapping and took some more pictures last weekend. Note: I do not have thigh straps or bicep straps in these pictures! I also have not riveted on my ammo pack or knee or added the cod strap. I added the velcro to my other shin after these were taken. The velcro I had just wasn't working on that one. Feedback is always appreciated. Thanks Edited May 12, 2016 by DayFire Quote
KingYeti Posted May 16, 2016 Report Posted May 16, 2016 Any tips on how to add a return edge back on my thighs after I've trimmed them? How much needs to be there? I used a regular household iron set at 3.5 and it worked great. Just takes a lot of patience. Quote
DayFire Posted May 16, 2016 Author Report Posted May 16, 2016 Ok thanks! Any other tips or suggestions on my build so far? Quote
DayFire Posted May 23, 2016 Author Report Posted May 23, 2016 Update! Finished my initial strapping and started painting. I would really appreciate any feedback anyone has ASAP. I'm hoping to finish and submit this in the next couple of weeks. Thanks! Quote
DayFire Posted May 25, 2016 Author Report Posted May 25, 2016 Update on painting! I've still got a lot of clean up to do but I think the initial pattern turned out pretty good. Quote
DayFire Posted June 22, 2016 Author Report Posted June 22, 2016 Redid my back plate and finished up painting the rest. Hopefully I can do a final fitting and get it weathered soon so I can submit. Any feedback would be appreciated. Quote
DayFire Posted June 23, 2016 Author Report Posted June 23, 2016 Went ahead and did all the weathering yesterday. Don't mind the mess I'm packing up to move in a couple weeks. 1 Quote

DayFire Posted June 25, 2016 Author Report Posted June 25, 2016 Thanks! Got a front and back picture of me in the kit when I gave it for a test run. Looks to me like I just need to check the alignment on my left arm. And yes I know I can't have a holster I was just testing this one out for trooping. It's an ESB holster so it just slides on and off. I'm hoping to take submission pictures in the next couple of days. Quote
DayFire Posted July 1, 2016 Author Report Posted July 1, 2016 Well I took my submission pictures and sent them off last weekend and got approved on Wednesday so I am now proud to introduce myself as TK 31604! 3 Quote
tkrestonva[TK] Posted July 1, 2016 Report Posted July 1, 2016 Well done. Great job with the paint and weathering. Looks like you can pull your shoulder bells in more. Quote
