humperdingle Posted February 17, 2016 Report Posted February 17, 2016 What are they for?? (Probably been asked before but I couldn't find an answer)

Did they have any supposed purpose for a stormtrooper, or were they just a 'dangly bit'?

Maybe for keeping mints in? Quote
Mcott65[TK] Posted February 17, 2016 Report Posted February 17, 2016 I'm no expert by a long way but I would guess that they are the same as all the other boxes, ammo. Stormtroopers need lots of ammo. Quote

humperdingle Posted February 17, 2016 Author Report Posted February 17, 2016 You'd have thought the drop boxes would be at least roughly the same shape as the magazine in an E-11 in that case? Quote
Darth Aloha[Admin] Posted February 17, 2016 Report Posted February 17, 2016 I think that the folks who designed the costume thought it would look cool... and space soldier-ish. Same goes for the thigh pack. I've heard it called an ammo pack or a power pack but its a dumb place to store just about anything -Eric Quote

But I always thought those thigh packs would be ideal for connecting with a rebel's crotch in CQC Edited February 17, 2016 by humperdingle 2 Quote
justjoseph63[Staff] Posted February 17, 2016 Report Posted February 17, 2016 Ammo for the laser gun? Blastech Industries recommends 7 triple A batteries to power the the standard Imperial issue E-11, which fit nicely in a drop box... 2 Quote
troopermaster Posted February 18, 2016 Report Posted February 18, 2016 Same goes for the thigh pack. I've heard it called an ammo pack or a power pack but its a dumb place to store just about anything I believe the reason it is on the lower right thigh is to hide the bad mismatch of the thigh halves. The test photos show the larger ammo belt on the thigh so the prop department must have realised it was too big and made a smaller version. The sniper knee plate was probably an afterthought too, like the drop boxes. 5 Quote
Ragnarzrage Posted February 18, 2016 Report Posted February 18, 2016 I've heard that the drop boxes are supposed to be energy sinks. If the armor takes a blaster hit, the energy from the blast then is diverted to the boxes to minimize damage to the trooper. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk Quote
Tiedoll Posted February 18, 2016 Report Posted February 18, 2016 I thought they were just pockets. You can put your ID, keys and money in it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
