Having a baby has made me impulsive. Got my Sterling parts in from Apex gun parts. I'm pretty bummed about the condition of the folding stock...any tips on how to get it back to it's original shape? I have a welder friend who can assist me. Also, what's the best way to clean the parts/degrease them?

Shipping damage?

Doesn't appear to be. It was very well packed.

Can you press or drill out the rivets

Not sure...I'm going to take a better picture here in a few.

That's easy, using a gas torch heat it up and bend it back into shape. Your iron worker friend should be able to pull that off easy. If not bring it to my place and I'll fix it.

Thanks Tony! It's a plan.

Had a little bit today while the baby was sleeping to do an initial clean on the Sterling parts.

It's a bummer because some of the parts still have portions of the steel receiver on them...I'm obviously going to need to remove those portions, but they need to be precise cuts...How is something like that done? Would a gunsmith be able to do that?

Also, the parts still feel a bit "grimey"...almost tacky. I used a degrease to clean them but it obviously wasn't enough. Any recommendations?

I was able to spend some time with Ukswrath yesterday and he helped me out with a few things including cutting up and grinding down a few of the Sterling parts. I'll post pics of that a bit later. Thanks a bunch Tony!

First up is the TD.

Done! The clips are ukswrath version 2 clips.

Next up was working on replacing the belt with one from TKITTELL. Let me just say removing the rivets was very difficult. The potential of ruining the whole belt is high when doing this.

As you can see two of the circles on the belt did not come off so easily.

Anovos used something very similar to Devcon plastic weld to attach these to the belt so be very careful removing them!

Some shots of the Sterling parts after their surgery. I've got a few ideas on how to attach them to the aluminum pipe, but I'd love some input if anyone has any advice.

Just bought all of the electronics for an Arduino setup. As my E-11 is ESB, and because I'm a fan of simplicity, I'm only going for 2 sounds. The classic blaster and the Stun setting. No fancy reload or counter or laser sight. Simplicity FTW.

Cut off the front sight and end cap on my aluminum pipe today as well. I marked and numbered the T-tracks on both the receiver and on the underside of the tracks so there won't be any confusion later.

The plan is to cut up the Anovos supplied TD clips and use them as aluminum shims to bridge the steel parts to the aluminum receiver. Ill fill in whatever gaps are left using modelling putty or possibly even paintable silicone. For the trigger and handguard I'm going to try JB weld and possibly a couple screws if I can find a place for them. Once I get the electronics working I'll do a final assembly all at once.

I still need to buy a Sterling magazine to cut up , as well as the ESB E-11 greeblies. Anyone know if anyone produces those?

Did some more work on the belt today. I like the look of off-white on the belt a bit more, but didn't realize I could have bought it off white. So instead of returning mine and getting another I just dyed my white one in some tea for a few minutes.

I'm doing the rivet attachment like Tony did in his build for the dropboxes and was able to salvage the Anovos elastic.

After I got everything apart I measured and marked the belt and dropbox elastic and drilled the dropboxes.

Now after I get a hold of a snap setting tool and a leather punch I'll assemble the belt!
