TK bondservnt[501st] Posted January 26, 2016 Report Posted January 26, 2016 Hello Troops, I've been looking over my recent AVOVOS shipment. So far here are my basic thoughts at first glance. Helmet. Velcro lenses with padding. I like to make my helmets with removable lenses. Not too bad! Hard hat liner. gonna remove that. easy out! done! Paint on frown is horrible, and I need to fix it. Mic Tips are fair, but I'm gonna go with keith's tips. The screens are just wrong. Ears are way too sharp. Armor Ammo plastic belt is riveted to the assembly. ugh! Belt plastic is extremely thin. New belt is ready! caps are ca glued down. easy fix! Overall the plastic seems really a lot thinner than most vetted armors. mine came without the protective film on some of my leg parts and it looks like it got kicked around the floor in china. Shoulder straps are total garbage... So very far off. Pulls are too crisp, and plastic seems cheap. Belt Flimsy TRASH COMPACTOR Hero holster design. 4 chicago screws. (made me feel at home here since I use the exact same kind on my kits.) I Threw the belt in the trash. Holster. Really a overly sturdy and hard, thick leather. actually fits a real sterling. will be mounted with the stunt format with 2 screws in the new belt. Biceps White tape - fitted to me and ready to glue. bottom returns still need to come off. Forearms Shins Thighs Torso top Torso bottom inside strapping More to come as I have now started the trimming process. I can't talk when I have armor to build. Photos will be taken after the trimming is done. 1 Quote

TK Hoagie[TK] Posted January 27, 2016 Report Posted January 27, 2016 Glad to hear an honest evaluation from someone who knows their stuff... Like all armor, make it your own, so you can look like everyone else!! Quote
TK bondservnt[501st] Posted January 27, 2016 Author Report Posted January 27, 2016 (edited) Compared to the many kit's I have owned and built. RS Props 1 AP "way too many" LOL. Pm me for details. ATA 2 MTK 2 ANOVOS 1 The anovos armor looks like it's going to be a very quick build for me. 2.5 hours later and I'm done pre trimming all the arms and legs. now up next is the torso parts. I usually have an extra harness on hand, I make them from a back support brace belt. (tutorial soon) Planned upgrades to helmet: Remove velcro headliner (save for TIE kit!) DONE Add star foam liner. DONE Add chinstrap DONE replace hovie tips with keith's. remove frown paint at ends, and repaint with proper gloss paint. Replace Frown mesh with my own personal white gaffer's tape. DONE Planned upgrades to armor: Replace belt with a trooperbay belt. I will keep some fabric from the original assembly and glue my own belt to that. DONE Latex hand plates. DONE New real bolts for T Det, with nuts and washers, with the correct head size. ( so glad they just left this part in kit form! YAY!) DONE Edited January 27, 2016 by TK Bondservnt 2392 Quote
supernaut11[TK] Posted January 27, 2016 Report Posted January 27, 2016 (edited) My AP kit is on the way.. I hope you don't mind if I pick your brain one or twice during my build! Edited January 27, 2016 by supernaut11 Quote
Clogger Posted January 27, 2016 Report Posted January 27, 2016 So what's your opinion on the Anovos TK as a kit for the normal price of $650 ?? against what is currently available from vetted makers ? 1 Quote
TK bondservnt[501st] Posted January 27, 2016 Author Report Posted January 27, 2016 (edited) worth about 450.00 The plastic is really cheap. Holster is the strongest item. If I shelled out 1800.00 for this with their strapping kit I'd be really upset! Edited January 27, 2016 by TK Bondservnt 2392 2 Quote
TK bondservnt[501st] Posted January 27, 2016 Author Report Posted January 27, 2016 (edited) The helmet itself has several major flaws. The eye external sculpt has been sharpened. The vocoder area, and the paintjob associated with that is WAY off. the paintwork on the frown, the vocoder and the ears, along with the missing details in the sculpt. this is indeed a cleaned up sculpt. It is not an accuracy derived sculpt. It has the handedness in the arms, and the leg individuality of the Brian Muir, but it lacks in the detail, and has been made larger in comparison to the originals, in the kit form there is that extra 1/4 inch in some key parts, and the AB looks to have been enlarged. more to come. It is like looking at an expert combining the TE with the RS, and then adding a twist. overall the armor is like a choosing between a weird EFX sculpt and An EFX. it's like.. " Game over man. It's a bug hunt" Bishop... if we only had help. and on the other side of the coin is this. The sculpt overcomes many of the problems I've seen before. So while I might not like certain aspects of the ANOVOS sculpt helmet I do have to thank them for a quality product that is in many ways as a helmet to be up to 501 standards. The anovos sculpt is a wild new entry to the fan sculpt market. as this clearly is not derived or recast. Yet includes the offset cod vertical line, and the abdomen details. The forearms are funny because they are close, but far away. Edited January 27, 2016 by TK Bondservnt 2392 1 Quote
BlayneFitz[TK] Posted January 27, 2016 Report Posted January 27, 2016 Is the Anovos' brough trim glued on real strong or can it be adjusted? Quote
hon143 Posted January 28, 2016 Report Posted January 28, 2016 Is it the angle or camera shot? But, the Anovos pieces do look awfully thin....especially the shoulder bells. Quote
SlyFox740[TK] Posted February 2, 2016 Report Posted February 2, 2016 What's your opinion on "pushed in" teeth in the frown? Quote
Warrenzo Posted March 6, 2016 Report Posted March 6, 2016 worth about 450.00 The plastic is really cheap. Holster is the strongest item. If I shelled out 1800.00 for this with their strapping kit I'd be really upset! I'd have to agree with you on that. It's the thinnest plastic i've ever came across! Measured it yesterday and it's roughly about 0.7mm thickness. I was really excited about getting this, but as soon as i lifted the 1st piece out of the box, my excitement soon turned to disappointment. Im actually scared to wear it in case i break it or put a crease in it!! Quote
TK bondservnt[501st] Posted March 9, 2016 Author Report Posted March 9, 2016 When It's assembled it becomes slightly stronger. Quote
wreakHavoc309[TK] Posted March 10, 2016 Report Posted March 10, 2016 Having assembled and worn my kit, while it seems thin at first, it's actually pretty durable. Definitely reinforce or replace the belt, and I'd ad also suggest reinforcing the kidney plate too, but other than that, I wore it and trooped around a bit with it completely unmodified and I had no complaints. I wouldn't worry too much. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Quote
Erice3339[TK] Posted April 18, 2017 Report Posted April 18, 2017 Having recently ordered my Anovos kit, I am having second thoughts? Is it really that bad of a set? Quote
