Hi all. FYI. Furry Props on etsy has sold and is still selling recasts of my 1st gen TFA stormtrooper armor on etsy. I've messaged them and they admitted it was recast. Screen caps below. They still have not removed the ad and i've logged a report with etsy.

And the clincher:

My original build can be found here for reference:

I just want to say that a lot of time and work went into making this. You guys have to know that while it's mainly my pride that's hurt with this, there are other people who's livelihood is affected by this blatant stealing. I originally set out to make this armor mainly for myself and a few for my 501st garrison so that we could have a few TFA troopers in time for the premier of Episode 7. I never intended to get thrust into overseeing a small business all of a sudden. In fact, this cuts into a significant chunk of my real job (I'm an Ophthalmologist) and is an additional source of stress. But you see, my fiberglass guys needed the work badly. They are not well off and while all this is just a hobby for us, my guys make a living out of this.  They buy food, pay their kid's tuition with what they get with each suit i help them sell. Every recast suit Furry Props sells takes away much needed income from my fiberglass guys. Funny, i knew this would happen sooner or later, that's why i sculpted tells and signatures into my stuff, but i didn't expect the first recasters to come from the UK.

Anyway, just a heads up. Thanks to everyone for the support.

Jim

Yup, didn't comment about the anovos stuff because i wasn't sure but in another pic (with the cap america shield) armor looks like a mix of anovos armor and mine. I think the drop boxes are anovos...

I wonder why he is showing/holding a Captain America shield with a Stormtrooper? Strange. lol

Wow, low low low. Thanks for outing him - we'll do our best to steer people way from that dude.

As somebody who wants a set of First Order armor next (after I finish my ANH TK), direct from the source is always best, recasting is just lazy money skimming.

How brazen to even outright admit what they are doing with no shame!

I got this response from the etsy seller. Is she just trying to sell something she bought off of a recaster and not recasting herself? If it even is who the profile says it is. Could be a fake profile too.

"Actually I bought this of a guy in the philippines jus before Xmas"

Clint, I'd love to think that Jim wasn't being recast, but the seller's listing says "these are made to order" and the fact that she/he admitted to him that it was a recast (Jim is from the Philippines) leads me to believe that the response to Jim is, unfortunately, more than likely accurate. Some people just don't have a strong set of ethics.

Strange - I sense shenanigans - great job Clint as always!

I'm glad you're at least aware of it.

Hopefully people will see and start going to the original caster over these inferior knockoffs.

C'est la vie.  It was bound to happen sooner or later.  They do seem to have a set of my original kit (flexible fiberglass) that they are trying to sell off.  I've been going through my records and for the life of me i can't figure out who it is i sold it to without going on a "did you recast my stuff?!" witch hunt.  My sculptor friend was right in his advice to sculpt in tells and signatures in your work.  You can't really stop people from recasting but you can tell when they do.

Thanks for all the support people.  Especially to those of you taking time out to help me investigate.

Cheers.

What would people say to a prospective 501st recruit who has bought this armour? A new guy in our Garrison has just announced in his welcome thread that he has bought an Anovos helmet and Furry Props armour. I've been googling, to no avail until now...

Hey are there any good places to get armor? I have been searching the entire website for known companies and heard nothing but horror stories...any idea where a GOOD, Original maker, and movie accurate first order or captain Phasma is? Also if this is a noob question sorry, but I am a noob :(

This truly sucks, How do you stop this, Plus they're painting nerf guns and not saying it, I am so pissed for you Jim,

All I can say is that I will have a real set from you!!! Can't wait brother,

It states "Just to add these arent made by me but by a friend" which would suggest its not re-seling a previously bought item.  I'll ask around to see if anyone knows anything about Furry Props.  They dont look like they have been going very long (Dec 2015).

Would Disney or ANOVOS issue C&D against ulicenced producers?  I know Lucusfilm generally turned a blind eye to the smaller maunfacturers of prop armour, but didnt know whether Disney or ANOVOS have a similar atitude?
