DeceptiSean[501st] Posted January 10, 2016 Report Posted January 10, 2016 I joined FISD about a month ago and had asked about RS kits in my first post. In a PM somebody had referred me to a maker here in my state(AZ) as a possible alternative to RS. That person had given me the wrong contact info so I never got a hold of the maker and forgot about it. Then on a different forum a member there referred me to the same maker with the correct contact info. So I figured I'd give them a shout because less expensive and local yadda yadda. Then after some digging and googling I read that this maker is recasting? Is this really a bad thing and if so why would a member refer me? I am definitely less interested now knowing that the kit is a recast of somebody else's work and I feel like a rube for even entertaining the idea. I just thought I'd share this with other members and hopefuls so that people like me can be a little better informed. I understand that there is already threads on recasting, where to buy vs where not to but for somebody like me with a poor memory and a apparent inability to find the thread I'm looking for, I don't think it would be a complete waste of time to ask or bring it up. Also, I'm bored, wired on Rockstar and my 11 month old isn't the best conversationalist yet. Quote
Tolo[TK] Posted January 10, 2016 Report Posted January 10, 2016 This person is using someone else's work and reselling it at poor quality. I don't think we can force you not to buy it, but, we can warn you before spending your money on something that might not last or have bad details on it. Sent from my iPhone 6 using Tapatalk Quote
Daetrin[Admin] Posted January 10, 2016 Report Posted January 10, 2016 Eric has the right of it - there is a reason they are not on our approved list. Quote
Dark PWF[Staff] Posted January 11, 2016 Report Posted January 11, 2016 Sigh... While I'm happy to see that you didn't buy, and fully understand and embrace the value in supporting the vetted and recommended vendors who put in the work to create these armors, I'm dumbfounded and a little perplexed by the fact that members are referring you to the other guy. Keep doing your research, Sean, you're on the right track! Quote
