Superbee[TK] Posted January 8, 2016 Report Posted January 8, 2016 Nice job ! Build looks good ! Quote
starsaber25[Admin] Posted January 8, 2016 Report Posted January 8, 2016 Hey Dave! Your armor looks great! Another quality MTK build. I don't think you will have too much trouble with making EIB. However, it appears you may be interested in going Centurion and if that is the case you will need to work on the thermal detonator. You will need to square off the metal brackets and the metal brackets will need to be brought up to the panel so they are touching it. Also one other thing that will need to be done is you will need to bring the drop boxes all the way out to the end of the belt and not just at the 45 degree angles. Again these are things that shouldn't effect your EIB application. Good luck and I hope there is another MTK EIB! Quote
TK-10175 Posted January 8, 2016 Author Report Posted January 8, 2016 Thank you for the kind words and the info on things I need for Centurion...I was sent those brackets from a very kind member of my garrison. He hand made them for me when I first started my build. At that point I wasnt sure I could even finish to make basic..So a huge thanks to him for them. That being said I can get new ones that will make Centurion happen. Also you are so right about my drop boxes..I was more concerned with the 45 degree angles coming to the belt as that seemed to be a common issue..I can redo the drop boxes with little issue..Thank you for all the advice..This is my first build and will not be my last!!! The possibilty of achieving EIB and possibly Centurion has made this new trooper very proud and excited!. Thanks a ton.. 1 Quote

ukswrath[Staff] Posted January 11, 2016 Report Posted January 11, 2016 Hi Dave, thank you for your application and your patience. Hope you had a wonderful New Years. Let's get to it shall we. Overall you did a great job on your build. There are a couple issues however you'll need to address before we can move forward. 1. Ab to kidney gap a bit excessive. Unfortunately we feel the gap between your ab and kidney plates, especially on the right side exceeds EIB requirements. Shortening the ab to kidney straps should resolve this. I you're using elastic we suggest maybe using nylon webbing. As stated in the CRL. Abdomen Armor - For level two certification Any gap between the abdomen and kidney armor is no more than 1/2" (12.5mm) wide. What we'd really like to see is something like this. 2. We also noticed a pretty significant gap between the right rear thigh sides, at the bottom. We're requesting you close that gap for us. As stated in the CRL (level two). Thigh Armor - For level two certification (if applicable): Thigh armor shall be closed in the back.Should look more like this.. By simply trimming the "V" shape into the backs or scalloping more away like many of the TK's in the movie instead of pulling these apart and starting over. If you could correct both of these concerns and post new pictures for us that would be awesome, Thanks 1 Quote
TK-10175 Posted January 12, 2016 Author Report Posted January 12, 2016 (edited) OK Guys...corrections made...Thank You ukswrath...your build thread was my bible man...so Thanks...so...here are my corrections... Edited January 12, 2016 by davebellimer 1 Quote
68Brick[TK] Posted January 12, 2016 Report Posted January 12, 2016 Can you get the shoulder straps lined up over the back plate, and have the white elastics retain them while you are wearing your armor? They really look like they are fighting for alignment. The staps are mis-aligned in all the pictures where you are wearing the armor. Quote
starsaber25[Admin] Posted January 12, 2016 Report Posted January 12, 2016 Hi Dave and the bottom of the thigh looks a lot better now. Can you get the shoulder straps lined up over the back plate, and have the white elastics retain them while you are wearing your armor? They really look like they are fighting for alignment. The staps are mis-aligned in all the pictures where you are wearing the armor. While I agree that maybe some more work should be done in regards to your shoulder straps, that shouldn't be something that should effect your EIB approval. I feel that you met those requirements because the elastic isn't required until Centurion. So they might as well not even be on there right now. Having said that, you should consider ripping those off and try to align them a little better. It would certainly make the armor look better. If you are planning on going Centurion then you will certainly need to make that adjustment. Quote
TK-10175 Posted January 12, 2016 Author Report Posted January 12, 2016 I will submit better pics with them aligned...I apologize as my wrangler"wife" and I are trying to do the best we can getting pics..truth be told I have worn this armor 4 times and am still working out how to make it look just right...I will submit new photos later..Thank You for the input... ukswrath[Staff] Posted January 12, 2016 Report Posted January 12, 2016 CRL and EIB Application Requirements: All submission photos are present and all requirements have been met for Expert Infantry. Congratulations, excellent work Dave Other-Armor Fit/Assembly:In this section, we'll review suggestions made by your fellow troopers as well as our own observations. All go towards improving the final look of your armor. Here's a few suggestions. 1. Round the corners of the black paint outlining the ear rank bar. 2. Maybe add foam to lower thighs near the knees to help straighten the leg armor alignment. It's not bad as it is, but would sure make it look nicer and it's a very simple fix. 3. Align (center) shoulder bridge covers with back plate 4. Rein in your shoulder bells. The gaps here are pretty big. Centurion Requirements: If you choose to shoot for Centurion you'll need a photo of the back of your drop boxes. B. The drop boxes will need to be aligned with the outer most edge of the ammo belt as seen here. C. "0" return edge on the trailing end (wrist side) of the forearms D. As Steve, your fellow trooper mentioned, you'll need to reposition or replace your Thermal Detonator clips. They should be positioned as such. E. Ab to kidney rivet placement. This request is probably the most difficult to ask but will be required for Centurion. Your ab to kidney rivets are out of alignment and will need to be corrected. As illustrated below in the image you provided, the lower rivets on the kidney side are of 1/4"-1/2". Once completed you'll need to fill the left over holes with ABS paste (slurry mixture) or similar. Again, great job on your build Dave. Take care of these few details and Centurion is yours. You can do it brother 1 Quote
TK-10175 Posted January 12, 2016 Author Report Posted January 12, 2016 Thank you for everything!!!! I will be adjusting a bunch of stuff and fixing the AB rivets...not a big deal as I wanted to add an abs strip to reinforce the edges...I am familiar with the old ABS paste as I made a correction to a screw up previously and KNOW I can fix those rivets....Everything else is cosmetic and I WILL GET IT RIGHT FOR CENTURION!!! Proud to be EIB level...but want that Centurion Badge...Thank You Guys...will get it right..I assure you... 1 Quote
