rogue4ngel Posted May 18, 2008 Report Posted May 18, 2008 Just thought I'd let people know that I've been revieving an error for most of the day when I attempted to access the forum. I'd just get a blank page that would state there was an "IPS error", and to attempt to refresh the page by clicking a link, which didn't work. I did a little research to see if I could figure out the problem, but I didn't see any particular solution (I guess because it can be any number of issues). Not sure if all the garrision sites are on the same server, but perhaps with running streaming video on the server from the event today could be taxing the server? That's a lot of connections to have to maintain if everyone who has the web cam page open is hitting the server for a request every 10 seconds. Just specuating of course. May have nothing to do with it. From what I read, you can see the IPS errors by going to the forum directory/cache/. Not sure if this means anything, or is helpful, but I thought it worth mentioning. Darth Voorhees[501st] Posted May 18, 2008 Report Posted May 18, 2008 hey guys, i see they metioned this in the announcements heres a quote from there: Greetings Gang, I'm sure some of you have been wondering lately about why the site goes dead from time to time and says something like SQL Error blah blah blah. Well apparently there was a problem with how big the database max storage was, for example, if we have 100megs max storage, and all the combined databases of different detachment sites and their forum's databases add up to more than 100megs, the Database server shuts down and crashes / or protects itself from overflowing, the downside to this is we lose access to the forum because of it. Anywho, the host has resolved this issue by pushing up the maximum database size to 2gigs, which is fairly large and should resolve any further SQL downtime. So lets hope that nips that issue in the bud. ...fo course as im posting this i see the date for the post was a few days ago, and this happened yesterday, but im guessin they are on it again! this happened to me yesterday also, for most of the day, i was having FISD withdrawal!
