mikedwelle94[TK] Posted January 1, 2016 Report Posted January 1, 2016 I'm at a loss here. My helmet is an MTK that I'm modifying and painting as an ROTJ style helmet, and I can't figure out how to make the ears stick. There doesn't seem be enough contact area for the glue on the rims of the ears. Any advice on an alternative method of attachment? Thanks, and happy new year! Plasma Posted January 1, 2016 Report Posted January 1, 2016 You can try making some small L or V shaped brackets out of ABS and using them to help secure the ears. Quote
troopermaster Posted January 1, 2016 Report Posted January 1, 2016 Glue and clamps are your friends Quote
mikedwelle94[TK] Posted January 1, 2016 Author Report Posted January 1, 2016 I'll give it another go haha. Maybe I just need to trim them a little more. Sent from my SCH-R530U using Tapatalk Quote
Snaps[TK] Posted January 1, 2016 Report Posted January 1, 2016 Post some pics so we can see and maybe help better if the second go round doesn't work. Quote
troopermaster Posted January 1, 2016 Report Posted January 1, 2016 I remember seeing bolts glued inside the ears on someone's ROTJ helmet once. The tighter the fit you trim the ears, the better they will fit. Might sound obvious but the less they need pulling into the helmet, the better. Quote
mikedwelle94[TK] Posted January 2, 2016 Author Report Posted January 2, 2016 (edited) Thanks for the replies, gents. I went with hot glue so that whoever gets this helmet can more easily remove the ears if they want to. A little silicone for the gaps, and it's looking pretty sweet. Paul, I will be ready to purchase your helmet kit soon. I have some people interested in the bucket. Edited January 2, 2016 by SolidScrafty 1 Quote
