trooper96[501st] Posted December 10, 2015 Report Posted December 10, 2015 (edited) Today, we had the awesome privilege of ringing the bell for the Salvation Army of Greenwood, SC at a local Walmart. For a Thursday morning from 10-12, we had a lot of interaction with the public. When we arrived, Walmart was kind enough to allow us to change in a fitting room. Many employees stopped by to take pictures before we could leave the store. We got outside about a half hour early and set up the kettle stand. A steady stream of people, mostly families with small children, stopped by to take pictures. People started giving donations before the kettle arrived. Finally, the officer from the Salvation Army arrived with the kettle, bells, and aprons. The public responded very enthusiastically to our presence, especially the "older kids" (aka grown-ups). The local newspaper dropped by with a photographer and reporter. They took lots of pictures, and I gave a short interview. Hopefully, we will be in tomorrow's paper. Hundreds of pictures were taken, we got to talk to a few people about the Legion, but most important of all, we were able to raise money for a worthy charity. Blackbomber Posted December 15, 2015 Report Posted December 15, 2015 Great pictures, I love them and what you guys did. I was walking past a salvation army bell ringer outside of Wal-mart and after donating some money, a wal-mart employee came out and told the man he didnt have a permit, which was very unnice and dumb, since the Salvation army almost always is outside of Wal-mart on christmas. Some people are just really grumpy people and like to ruin the holidays for others. 1 Quote
trooper96[501st] Posted December 19, 2015 Author Report Posted December 19, 2015 Thanks. As for the employee, I find their lack of Christmas cheer dusturbing! Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk 2 Quote
