I've been using sheet metal snips for over 12 years so I found them to be handy in areas that I was concerned about slippage from the exacto blade. After each piece is cut and trimmed - I take about 5-10 min to lightly sand down the edges - finer accuracy filing will come just before assembly. I also have found it easier to tackle a little on the armor, then switch to the helmet to break things up. 2 Quote

I made sure to leave some extra rough edge on the ears so that there will be some extra room for me to play with when filing them down. 2 Quote

If you are going to use tin snips to cut your armor - first ensure that you have a pair of "Red's"- Right turn cuts & "Greens"- Left turn cuts, secondly remove larger excess plastic so that the area you are cutting can be gently pulled up and away from the blades of your snips giving you more cutting mobility, thirdly cut relief notches to allow the plastic to be pulled up more easily. 1 Quote

I got the flat lense from the Trooperbay helmet kit and kind of using your process with anchoring the lense - remember that idea I shared with you... Much appreciation to Joseph for PMing me a paste recipe - I do apologize that I didn't follow it right to the tee as I already had 3 cases of 100% Acetone Nail polish remover given to me - the great thing is that it worked. Pyrates[TK] Posted January 30, 2016 Author Report Posted January 30, 2016 I used approx 1 to 1-1/2 ratio Acetone to ABS scraps. The paste took about 2-1/2 days to reach a nice liquid consistency. I stirred the mixture twice a day during this time wiping the stir stick on a rag to act as tests then checking on how much time it took to dry and what the dried result looked like. I ended up adding a little more abs to make the paste similar to the consistency carpenter's glue and it took about 5 min to become pliable, and dried in approximately 15 min. While it was applied to my teeth I used the back side of my fingernail to smooth out the paste and remove extra. Once set, I started gently filing area and... well take a look - stuff is magic freakin force superstitious stuff. Quote
