kpriyanti Posted October 29, 2015 Report Posted October 29, 2015 Hi all just a heads up, I just wanted to let you know. Before I know about FISD, I look out for kit makers on facebook. I came across a group called "STAR WARS COSTUMES BUY/SELL/THREAD". I posted on its wall, saying I'm looking for an armor kit. The admin pm me and told me he could order one for me, using the group account. He said he has a builder and it'll cost me $725 for both armor and helmet prebuilt. He asked me to pay through paypal, to this account: 7w1n9m4n7@gmail.com Not to be judgemental but i sort of question his credibility because of the email address, and he demanded me to send the money right away. He pushed me to pay full amount that instant. I said that i was hesitant because i don't know this guy's credibility. And so he added me on facebook with his personal account. TIM WINGETT, that's his name. Looking through his photos with all the armor posts and stuff, and so I thought maybe this guy is okay. And so I paid him $725 right after that. The day after that, someone messaged me on facebook. Apparently, he is the builder, the armor maker. He asked me whether I am Tim's friend or I found him on facebook. And I told him the truth. He asked me how much did Tim charge me. Apparently, TIM HAS BEEN BUYING HIS STUFF AND RESELLING FOR A PROFIT. The price is actually 375 for the armor 200 for the helmet. He's been selling it without the builder's permission and it's sort of disrespectful. I should've paid only 575, but Tim charged me for 725. That's a rip-off. And thank God the builder contacted me and help me through all the refund process. So guys, look out for: TIM WINGETT. Don't get rip off. (Hope this post would be helpful for you all) Quote
sylverbard[TK] Posted October 29, 2015 Report Posted October 29, 2015 Really...why does the builder keep selling to Tim then? You'd think he'd just say no I'm not selling to you anymore. Quote
I'm Batman[501st] Posted October 29, 2015 Report Posted October 29, 2015 (edited) If he has bought armor and charged you a building fee, then possibly fair enough. If he is buying and selling for a profit, then probably not. Will be interesting to see what Tim has to say - he's a member here (same user name as that email address, so I assume the same guy @7w1n9m4n7) So, who was the maker of the armor? If it is decent armor, then $725- you're still not that bad off. If it is rubbish armor, then that is the reason we tell people to stay away from ebay/facebook, etc. Look to the trusted sellers listed here. Edited October 29, 2015 by Sith Lord Quote

justjoseph63[Staff] Posted October 29, 2015 Report Posted October 29, 2015 I'm also interested in who is making this $375. armor/$200.00 bucket. Sounds like a recast for that price, so I would steer clear of it (at least for now) Kanya, as I doubt it would be 501st approvable, Got any pics you could share? Quote
