ComradeDave[TK] Posted September 18, 2015 Report Posted September 18, 2015 I just bought this kit of hovi tips from starwarfans1138 See attached files. Are these acceptable if I do some work on them to get up to centurion? If so what needs to be done? Quote
ComradeDave[TK] Posted September 18, 2015 Author Report Posted September 18, 2015 I want to DIY as much as possible to really get the whole experience Quote
Locitus[Admin] Posted September 19, 2015 Report Posted September 19, 2015 The lack of screws going out the back to secure them in your helmets can make them harder to install. But there's nothing wrong with the shape of them overall. But you might still want to consider buying from Keith or sskunky instead to ensure you're not buying recasts and know you'll get good quality. 1 Quote
ComradeDave[TK] Posted September 19, 2015 Author Report Posted September 19, 2015 perfect I probably will once I have the armor and its assembled I'll be doing constant upgrades Quote
Ryth_[501st] Posted September 19, 2015 Report Posted September 19, 2015 (edited) I don't like the recast part of this. I bought from Keith and I'm loving the craftmanship on these. Keit casts his tips from a real hovi mic. There's some work to on yours. The inside should be white - it's not in the CRL, but it looks better.. and Keiths and Sskunkys are cast in two parts, which the inside is in white material. Here's a picture I grabbed from TK42178 There's really enough to do on the suit, so don't kick yourself if you buy finished. Most people do - so they can get a flawless detail to their lid. ----------- Edited January 31, 2022 by gmrhodes13 link not working removed 1 Quote
ComradeDave[TK] Posted September 21, 2015 Author Report Posted September 21, 2015 I see. I'm kicking myself now... sigh. I'm always looking for a bargain and maybe I shouldn't be. Quote
Locitus[Admin] Posted September 21, 2015 Report Posted September 21, 2015 This is not a cheap hobby, and generally speaking, what you save now you spend double when you realize you want to upgrade. It's always better to buy quality from the start and not have to upgrade. Don't rush and think you have to buy everything at once. Take it easy and save your money for the good stuff. 2 Quote

ComradeDave[TK] Posted September 24, 2015 Author Report Posted September 24, 2015 I listened to your advice and bought 2 other items from FISD members. TKittell's belt and some hand guards from a guy looking to sell his ESB ones. Quote
