tkrestonva[TK] Posted December 28, 2015 Report Posted December 28, 2015 Nice to see that my OT kit won't be put out to pasture anytime soon. Quote
Trooperman Posted December 28, 2015 Report Posted December 28, 2015 Looks like hes trimming the kidney plate with the butt plate.. all one piece! Quote
troopermaster Posted December 28, 2015 Report Posted December 28, 2015 Looks like hes trimming the kidney plate with the butt plate.. all one piece! That's because they are based on ROTJ suits. Nice photo. I never get tired of seeing this kind of stuff. 2 Quote
The5thHorseman[501st] Posted December 28, 2015 Report Posted December 28, 2015 Where are the high brows? Looks like we're going to be swarmed with low brow helmets only... Looks like hes trimming the kidney plate with the butt plate.. all one piece! Yes, but the kidney notch is there! Just kidding I'm sick by just staring at that single back armor... Quote
Trooperman Posted December 28, 2015 Report Posted December 28, 2015 I see, and what about the lids? are these the same as the Special Edition helmets do you think? Quote
bluehickey Posted December 28, 2015 Report Posted December 28, 2015 I'm guessing that with the boots, they were simply reusing the dozens and dozens of pairs of white boots left over after filming the Force Awakens. Quote
troopermaster Posted December 28, 2015 Report Posted December 28, 2015 (edited) Yes, I think this is probably quite an old photo from when the 1997 Special Edition was made. Edited January 8, 2021 by gmrhodes13 photo updated gmrhodes13 2021 4 Quote
TK 2759[501st] Posted December 28, 2015 Report Posted December 28, 2015 Pi had heard Rogue 1 was timelines between EP V and Vi ... Not just before IV ... The timeline between III and IV was clone wars tv series, was it not? Quote
divotdan Posted December 28, 2015 Report Posted December 28, 2015 Pi had heard Rogue 1 was timelines between EP V and Vi ... Not just before IV ... The timeline between III and IV was clone wars tv series, was it not? I believe Clone Wars was between II & III, and Rebels is between III & IV. 1 Quote
TK 2759[501st] Posted December 28, 2015 Report Posted December 28, 2015 I believe Clone Wars was between II & III, and Rebels is between III & IV. So they've done something between prequels already... Rogue One, if they're doing armour like ANH and ROTJ, seems to fit between V and VI... Quote
cedron[501st] Posted December 28, 2015 Report Posted December 28, 2015 Some more observations about the original pictures. Some parts of these almost look like FX armor, especially the very rounded tops of the shoulder bells, the overlap of the back and kidneys, and the strap connecting the chest and the back. Other stuff like the narrow cod piece, I've never seen before. And, the drop box stuck in the thigh armor is just funny. Quote
troopermaster Posted December 28, 2015 Report Posted December 28, 2015 I am not familiar with this armour. It is definitely not from LFL/ILM and is not one of common fan made kits either. Quote
Airborne Trooper[501st] Posted December 28, 2015 Report Posted December 28, 2015 I bet Germain loves that forearm to bicep gap 1 Quote
cedron[501st] Posted December 29, 2015 Report Posted December 29, 2015 I seriously hope these are not the real stormtrooper costumes they are using in the movie. It's like they took armor making back 15 years. More of it seems similar to FX armor than to any of the current fan made kits. (And then they assembled them poorly.) 1 Quote

Turrican Posted December 29, 2015 Report Posted December 29, 2015 (edited) Finaly some nice trooper costumes. Looks 1000 times better to my eyes as this TFA stuff. Nice to see they do it this way. That's how a trooper should look. OT Style! Edited December 29, 2015 by Turrican Quote

Airborne Trooper[501st] Posted December 29, 2015 Report Posted December 29, 2015 You just need to be an on set consultant and get them where they need to be. I know this movie is suppose to take place right before ANH, but I don't think the transition from Clone Troopers to OT troopers needs to be this sloppy. They look like they have a mix of FX/AM2.0 armor that was not even bothered to tailor to the wearer. 1 Quote
jkno Posted December 29, 2015 Report Posted December 29, 2015 I like OT armors more than anything. But these are looking weird. Really waiting to see more pics. Quote
Daetrin[Admin] Posted December 29, 2015 Report Posted December 29, 2015 I do not like this at all. Too bad they are messing with it Quote
cedron[501st] Posted December 29, 2015 Report Posted December 29, 2015 It would have been so easy for their production team to tap the dozens of 501st members who have vast knowledge of the OT armor. Even if they wanted to change it afterward, it would have been a great place to start. What a huge missed opportunity. Quote
TK 2759[501st] Posted December 29, 2015 Report Posted December 29, 2015 They could also be engaging in disinformation... They would not be the first to do so... Keeping the masses on their toes. Quote
